Position Overview:  
  
The Group General Manager/Cold Storage is responsible for the overall leadership and management of an operations network within CJLA. This includes the full P&L responsibilities of the network, improving operating margin through collaboration with the operations team members and CJ Executive Leaders, and ensuring the tools and support structure are in place to meet objectives in the near and long term. The Group General Manager will also focus on providing strategic direction and operational support to meet the established goals for both ambient and cold storage warehouse facilities which carry a broad scope of responsibilities and complexity. Not only will you be leading the operations of the multiple warehouse facilities, but you will also be growing our customer base, all while following all regulatory and company safety standards, policies, and procedures  
  
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:  
  • Lead operational activities of the logistics facilities within the network to optimize performance. 
  • Provide oversight of financial planning, personnel development, asset management/utilization and overall profitability of each facility within the network. 
  • Build effective relationships across CJ Logistics America to help drive projects to completion and improve processes, through the CJL Operating System. 
  • Build effective relationships with Engineering, Solutions and IT to optimize the network to develop an efficient cold storage layout to maximize storage space and ease of movement within the facility.
  • Provide professional management and leadership to the network, including mentoring and developing key roles while instilling best practices from an operational perspective.
  • Develop and monitor policies, procedures, and practices to ensure compliance. 
  • Consistently achieve excellence in all tasks and goals. Maintains focus and perseveres in the face of obstacles. Uses time efficiently and responds quickly and constructively when confronted with challenges. Prioritizes tasks based on importance.
  • Support Business Development activities by exceeding customer expectations.  
  • Analysis and enhancements in areas of network utilization, service/cost performance, and procurement of equipment.

  • Customer service mindset to handle daily operations issue follow up, customer communication through calls and emails for requests/inquiries while developing a regular cadence for meetings (Weekly, MBR/QBR).
  • Make suggestions for increasing the effectiveness of changes. Show willingness to learn new methods, procedures, or techniques. Shift your priorities in response to the demands of a situation.
  • Driving a culture of safety and compliance (AIB, ASI, SQF, etc.), using regulatory knowledge of the warehousing industry to develop the appropriate awareness and action plans. 
  • Resolving a dispute or a conflict permanently, by providing for each sides' needs, and adequately addressing their interests so that they are satisfied with the outcome.
  • Owner of KPI’s and ensuring performance management system is capable of providing necessary outputs for reporting to CJ Logistics America Executive team and HQ.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
  
Requirements and Qualifications:  
  
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, supply chain or related field preferred, MBA highly preferred. 
  • 10+ years of experience in Cold Storge (protein specifically), Logistics/Brokerage or 3PL segment of the logistics industry.
  • Experience with LTL and truckload transportation/Logistics contracts and agreements. 
  • Ability to work in temperatures as low as -20 Fahrenheit/-25 Celsius in cold storage sites or up to 100 Fahrenheit/37 Celsius in dry storage sites while wearing company-provided personal protective equipment and freezer gear
  • Previous P&L responsibility and strong financial acumen.
  • Proven customer partnership success and strong communication skills- both verbal and written.
  • Strong understanding of industry regulatory, compliance, and safety protocols.
  • Team development, organizational structure with ability to define future team designs/needs.
  • Continuous Improvement mentality with strong desire to build best-in-class operations.
  • Project Management experience to include process innovation, service improvements and ability to drive change management and the communications required with change.
  • Travel up to 35% of the time.
