Position Overview:

The Manager, Planning holds the responsibility for reduction of fleet empty miles by utilizing, planning, and optimizing tools through efficient work in the company TMS & load board partner websites. This position will be responsible for collaborating with internal operation teams, drivers, and customers for continual growth, improvement, and efficiency.

Pay Range: $75-85K

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Utilize technology, analytics, and creative thinking to optimize, route, and plan
  • Schedule and optimize traffic routes and optimize transport costs
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal operations teams, drivers, customers, vendors, and external service providers
  • Respond to transportation issues, develop solutions, and identify areas for process improvement
  • Maintain order and load status information in internal TMS systems or spreadsheets.
  • Communicate delivery status exceptions to customers and operations managers
  • Plan, organize, and control activities related to transportation
  • Create daily summary reports and irregularity reports, and send them to the company management..
  • Identify, measure and manage key performance indicators
  • Support urgent operations (unforeseen incidents such as weather, driver issues, etc.), sometimes requiring work at irregular times (weekends, nights) & irregular durations (double shifts, etc.)
  • Additional duties as assigned

Competencies:

  • Can make informed and evidence-based decisions that support the company goals and objectives
  • Communication and storytelling skills (interpersonal, as well as for presentations and written reports)
  • Business math skills for basic financial analysis
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor degree or equivalent experience is preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or related fields
  • Demonstrated ability in account management and developing collaborative customer relationships
  • Knowledgeable in asset-based transportation operations with a basic understanding of warehousing, inventory, order fulfillment, and customer service
  • Experience with a Transportation Brokerage (preferred)
  • Competency in Microsoft Office and Google applications
  • Experience working in a transportation management system (TMS)
  • Experience in a transportation planning role
  • Experience in Samsara is a plus
  • Experience in BI software is a plus (Power BI, Tableau, etc.)
