Position Overview:
This position reports to the Manager, Leadership Development and is responsible for designing and developing engaging training programs to be delivered as e-learning or instructor-led training. In this role, the Instructional Designer will work closely with subject matter experts and the Organizational Capabilities and Development team to identify training needs and translate those needs into learning experiences that improve skills and performance.
This is not a remote position. Candidates must be willing to work a hybrid schedule of 4 days on-site and 1 day remote. Therefore, we are only considering candidates who live within a commutable distance from our Corporate Office located in Des Plaines, IL.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Consult subject matter experts (SMEs) to identify the target audience’s specific skills or knowledge gaps, and define clear learning objectives
- Collaborate with Organizational Capabilities and Development (OCD) team to create content, storyboards, training scripts, instructor guides, and other learning materials
- Create engagement and interactivity by applying instructional design principles and adult learning theories when developing content
- Integrate learning curriculum for courses and programs onto learning platforms that include instructor-led, e-learning, virtual learning, job aids, and web applications
- Ensure that all learning needs, requirements, and established standards are met in regards to the technology platform on which the curriculum is deployed
- Enhance the user experience configuring interfaces with which the learner will engage during training
- Work collaboratively with SMEs to plan, develop, and execute innovative projects that relate to digital learning, such as digital learning platforms, learning analytics, etc.
- Advise Organizational Capabilities and Development team and SMEs on the options and best modes of delivery for various types of training
- Organize and lead efforts to ensure that Organizational Capabilities and Development team members remain current with learning technology and systems
- Develop and maintain reporting standards for all Organizational Capabilities and Development programs
- Provide administrative and technical support for the learning management systems and users
- Support the integration of learning and development initiatives with CJ Logistics
- Support efforts to make learning programs accessible for a global workforce
- Perform other related job duties as required, within the scope of training and expertise"
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Training, HR, or related field
- 3-5 years experience designing training programs and developing self-paced e-learning modules
- Proficiency in online training development tools and technologies such as: Articulate Storyline, TechSmith Camtasia, Adobe Captivate, SCORM, etc.; Alchemy a plus
- Extensive knowledge of instructional design theory and implementation
- Solid knowledge of learning management systems and web delivery tools
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Some travel may be required
- Experience in Supply Chain, Logistics, or Manufacturing industries preferred
- Bilingual in Spanish or Korean a plus

Salary range - $76,287 - $95,358
