Position Description
The Director of Product Engineering is responsible for the operational and technical leadership and inspiration of the technology team. This position plays a key role in developing the products that will transform the way citizens and government interact and is responsible for leading the development team to produce high levels of production and quality.
 
As a Director, Product Engineering you will:        
  • Maintain the PE budget and evaluate opportunities for efficiencies
  • Builds an understanding of and a relationship with our customers - Voice of Customer will drive everything you do.
  • Create and/or maintain an environment of high expectations and delivery in both product effectiveness and quality
  • Mentor and develop key staff
  • Collaborate with other company stakeholders to develop long-term business plans and drive the department strategies to align with company goals
  • Set and continually review the effectiveness of departmental policy and operating procedures
  • Consult with users, management, vendors, and technicians to assess computing needs and system requirements
  • Directly manage CivicPlus' engineering managers, while remaining an accessible resource for the entirety of the CivicPlus' engineering team
  • Stay abreast of development methodologies, competitors, and advances in technology
  • Recruit, hire, train and supervise staff
  • Evaluate proposals to assess project feasibility and requirements
  • Partner with the VP Technology to define and lead the strategy and roadmap balancing short- and long-term priorities against business goals
  • Proven success leading software development projects with a distinguished track record on technically demanding projects
  • Able to effectively communicate drivers behind decisions and continuously reflecting on both success and failures to improve performance and strategy
  • Understands when change is needed and actively participates in technical strategy planning
  • Able to navigate accountability in a matrixed organization
 What We’re Looking For:
  • Proven track record in creating operational efficiency and providing technology leadership
  • Experience with managing a departmental budget- LEAN experience a plus
  • Demonstrated experience in leading engineering organizations through periods of rapid yet strategic growth
  • Successful track record of building diverse, inclusive teams
  • Tenured experience within Saas organizations is required
  • Experience working with onshore, offshore and nearshore development resources

Compensation and Benefits:    
  • Estimated Salary Range: $180,000-$200,000 annually
    • The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience and is based on a 40-hour work week.
  • Potential Variable Pay:  Bonus based on set goals.
