Overview
As the Organizational Development Business Partner, reporting to the Manager of Organizational Development & Learning, you will serve as a strategic advisor to leaders on organizational development and culture. Your role will involve developing and implementing programs and events that enhance our culture, engage employees and boost organizational effectiveness. You will also support an inclusive culture that celebrates diversity and advances our Strategic Plan, People Plan and the City of Kitchener's reputation as a leading employer.
Responsibilities
Culture and engagement
- Advise and support leaders on organizational and local work area challenges and opportunities.
- Conduct needs assessments and develop strategies to improve team performance.
- Create programs and tools to build strong, cohesive teams that engage and motivate employees.
- Recommend initiatives to enhance culture and engagement, incorporating best practices, data/analytics, equity, diversity and inclusion, and psychological safety frameworks.
- Plan and implement employee engagement surveys.
Organizational development
- Design and implement future-of-work initiatives like flexible work.
- Develop and apply policies to support employees and workplace norms.
- Collaborate on organizational change initiatives and emerging workplace practices such as artificial intelligence.
Events and programming
- Lead the development of employee engagement strategies and recognition programs.
- Develop and maintain corporate programs to support employee engagement, such as onboarding and orientation.
- Plan and execute culture events in collaboration with HR team members.
- Coordinate and chair internal committees and working groups in areas such as recognition.
Collaboration and relationships
- Build strong relationships with leaders and employee groups to understand business needs and provide relevant advice and solutions.
- Collaborate with internal partners, including equity and digital technology staff, to provide inclusive and modern solutions.
- Collaborate with HR team members to identify and recommend solutions for complex culture and engagement opportunities and challenges.
Requirements
Education and experience:
- Honours Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources or other related field
- Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) or Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation is an asset.
- Certification in Organizational Development, facilitation, change management, or project management is an asset.
- Minimum of 4 years progressive experience in Organizational Development, focusing on employee culture, engagement and organizational change initiatives.
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Comprehensive knowledge of employee culture, organizational behaviour, employee motivation and engagement, and team-building principles and practices.
- Ability mobilize and engage others, working strategically and collaboratively.
- Coaching and support skills for leaders on organizational change and culture.
- Ability to create and transform human resource programs and practices.
- Proven project management and change management principles.
- Skilled in planning and implementing corporate events.
- Proficient in planning, coordinating, and implementing employee engagement surveys, interpreting results, and support action-planning.
- Effective written and verbal communications skills, with experience crafting high-quality content and delivering presentations/facilitating across all organization levels.
- Knowledge of current HR and OD trends and regulations; labour relations knowledge is an asset.
- Research, analytical and problem-solving skills, including data analysis and interpretation.
