Position Overview:   

The City of Kitchener is home to two championship 18-hole courses; a full-length 9-hole course; a 9-hole pitch and putt course and a driving range.   

We are seeking Temporary Labourers to be involved in various aspects of the day-to-day maintenance of the golf courses.  This position is integral in ensuring that our courses are maintained at a high standard.    

    

Responsibilities:   

  • Maintaining the Course to high standards. This may include but is not limited to: operating various types of turf mowers, trucksters, tractors and other equipment in order to maintain the City golf courses.
  • Course set up and turf renovation including construction projects.
  • Maintenance of flower beds and hanging baskets; planting, weeding, and providing general care and maintenance of mixed perennial, bi-annual and annual plant material.
  • Watering and fertilizing plant material, as well as assisting in irrigation repairs.
  • Tree Pruning, planting or removal.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    

Requirements:   

  • Able to work over time as required.
  • Have demonstrated communication skills with an ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Be prepared to be trained in the operation of all related equipment and work skills.
  • Be able to perform a wide variety of duties including manual labour.
  • Possess a valid G2 or G driver's license in good standing.
  • Be a competent person as defined by the Ontario Health & Safety Act.
  • Have good customer service skills.
  • Ability to participate as an effective team member working in a fast paced environment. R
