Responsibilities:

As a member of the Fleet team at the City of Kitchener, the Automotive Service Attendant is responsible for:

  • The wash, fuel and daily inspection of City vehicles that are part of the Commercial Vehicle Operator’s Registration (CVOR) program.
  • Inspection, maintenance and repairs of City trucks, vehicles and other related equipment.
  • Document work activities in an automated Fleet Management System (FLINT).
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum Grade 12 education.
  • Valid MTO Class “DZ” license in good standing.
  • Experience performing Legislated Daily Vehicle Inspections on CVOR Air Brake equipped and medium duty vehicles.
  • Possess basic hand tools applicable to perform minor repairs or servicing.
  • Previous work experience in a mechanical area and must be mechanically inclined.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act as it pertains to Fleet.
  • Must be reliable with good attitude, attendance and employment record (no disciplinary action on file).
  • Ability to effectively communicate; verbally and written.
  • Preference will be given to applicants who possess additional related certificates pertinent to the Motive Power trades.
  • Reliable with a good attitude and employment record.
