Job Status: Temporary Part-Time
Pay & Grade: $32.28 to $36.57 hourly
Hours of Work:Up to 24 hours per week
Initial location: Breithaupt Centre

Overview
Seeking a dedicated instructor to provide fitness instruction in Yoga, Meditation, and Nia. An ideal candidate will have certification in these disciplines, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to fostering wellness in a supportive environment.
Various work sites are Breithaupt Centre, Grand River Rec Complex, Budd Park, and Kiwanis Park.
Responsibilities
- Program Preparation: Develop and conduct engaging programs for participants, ensuring they meet required standards.
- Activity Instruction: Demonstrate and teach Yoga, Meditation, and Nia techniques using established methods, providing helpful feedback to participants.
- Safety Assurance: Explain and enforce safety rules for sports, recreation activities, and equipment use.
- Supply Management: Gather and organize necessary supplies and equipment.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records, including class attendance and accident/incident reports, and distribute relevant forms and program information.
- Equipment Care: Ensure equipment is used safely, kept in good condition, and stored properly.
- Customer Service: Respond to participants' immediate concerns and needs, providing excellent customer service.
- Facility Liaison: Act as a bridge between the facility and participants.
- First Aid: Provide first aid as required.
- Additional Duties: Perform other related tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- Education: High school diploma and certification as a fitness instructor in Yoga, Meditation, or Nia.
- Experience: At least three years of related experience in a specific fitness program.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours, including daytime, evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on program needs.
- Instructional Skills: Proven experience in providing instruction within a program setting.
- Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, along with strong customer service and behavior management abilities.
- Background Check: Provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check at your own expense as a condition of employment.
- First Aid Certification: Valid CPR Level “C” and Emergency First Aid Certificate, or willingness to obtain prior to employment.
- Reliability: Demonstrated reliability, positive attitude, and good employment record.
