Position Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic individual to join our team of creative professionals. Our team works collaboratively to share information, engage the public, and promote various city programs, services, and enterprises.

Responsibilities:

  • This role involves coming up with creative and effective social and digital media marketing campaigns and initiatives. You'll also oversee our corporate social accounts, creating posts and responding to comments and questions from our followers.  

 

A day in your life can include: 

  • Monitoring our social media accounts to respond to questions or requests from followers 
  • Creating and building paid digital media campaigns that help internal customers reach their goals 
  • Reporting on the effectiveness of digital media campaigns using analytic tools 
  • Working with team members to collaborate on graphics, video production and campaign planning 
  • Writing easy-to-understand and engaging content for social media posts, responses and campaigns 
  • Monitoring and evaluating commentary and conversation on social media channels, online resources and websites to find information to assist with managing potential or actual issues  
  • Updating website content using a content management system 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:

  • With a 3-year degree/diploma, you will have 2 to 4 years related experience. The ideal applicant will have the following: 
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills, including experience in writing for online audiences 
  • Proven experience of social media, online communications and digital media best practices (e.g. content creation, social media tools, video, website, analytics, etc.)  
  • Up-to-date knowledge of current trends in digital marketing and social media 
  • Website content management experience, a bonus if you have experience using iCreate and Form Builder 
  • Demonstrated experience with implementing digital and social media ad campaigns using Facebook, X, Instagram, Google and other online platforms  
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to collaborate with internal customers and translate ideas into digital media strategies and creative concepts  
  • Knowledge of issues management and crisis communications best practices to create and post-digital media content 
  • A people-first approach to providing excellent customer service to meet the needs of our followers 
  • Ability to support and project values compatible with the organization and participate as an effective team member
  • Reliable with a good attitude and employment record

  • 2-Year Diploma (or 2-Year Specialized Post-Secondary Program) with minimum 4 years related and relevant experience OR
  • 4-Year Honours Degree with minimum 1 year related and relevant experience
