Position Overview:

Provides aquatic leadership program instruction for National Lifeguard, Lifesaving Instructor, Swim Instructor, Assistant Instructor and Standard First Aid and CPR-C courses.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Plans, implements and conducts safe aquatic leadership program instruction for National Lifeguard, Lifesaving Instructor, Swim Instructor, Assistant Instructor and Standard First Aid and CPR-C courses.
  • Ensures compliance with Ontario Health Regulations and all relevant legislation and Policy and Procedures manuals.
  • Ensures that appropriate equipment is in place and operational and that the equipment is stored away after use.
  • Evaluates and certifies performance and maintains records of performance and attendance.
  • Communicates participants’ performance and progress to participant.
  • Performs tasks necessary to support the program including reports and records.
  • Responds to aquatic emergency situations and uses safety/rescue equipment.
  • Consults superiors regarding exceptional situations and difficulties (e.g., extremely irate or difficult customers).
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:

  • 3 months of related experience.
  • Current National Lifeguard Service (NLS) award.
  • Current Lifesaving Instructors certification.
  • Valid CPR Level “C” and Standard First Aid Certificate.
  • Current Bronze Cross Examiner.
  • Current instructor certification in one or more of the following: Standard First Aid Instructor, National Lifeguard Instructor, Lifesaving Society Instructor Trainer.
  • Customer service skills.
  • This work requires mental/sensory demands with visual or listening concentration while monitoring pool. Requires moderate physical activity primarily involving standing, kneeling, and reaching.
  • Reliable with a good attitude and employment record.
