Position Overview:

Are you a certified Recreation Program or Fitness Instructor? We are looking for qualified Instructors to teach at a variety of City Facilities across the City of Kitchener. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Completes records and reports including class attendance and accident/incident reports. Distributes applicable forms and program information.
  • Ensures safe use, condition and storage of any equipment.
  • Responds to participants immediate concerns and or needs and provides customer service.
  • Acts as a liaison between the facility and participants.
  • Prepares, implements and instructs appropriate activities. Modifies programs to accommodate individuals with a disability.
  • Assembles supplies and equipment as required.
  • Ensures the safety and enjoyment of participants through communication, monitoring and enforcement of program and facility rules, and addresses unsafe and unacceptable behavior.
  • Plans, delivers and implements program activity as per program plan outline and program goals.

Requirements:

  • Must have the ability to support and project values compatible with the organization.
  • Must possess a high school diploma and current technical and/or practical training and/or certifications in a specific discipline as outlined above.
  • Must have a minimum of one year of related experience in the fitness or program discipline you are applying to.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including daytime, evening, weekends, and holidays, depending on the needs of the program.
  • May be required to obtain a Police Record Check and/or produce First Aid Certifications or other Certifications.
  • Must have demonstrated experience providing instruction within a program setting.
  • Must have demonstrated excellent interpersonal, communication (written and oral), customer service, and behaviour management skills.
  • Must be reliable with a good attitude and employment record.
