Position Overview:

The City of Kitchener is seeking candidates to fill temporary labourer positions in the Roads and Traffic division.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Asphalt-related repairs and maintenance of roads.
  • Concrete related repairs and maintenance of sidewalks, curbs, catch basins, and manholes.
  • Maintaining waste receptacles, cleaning up garbage and debris from streets, sidewalks and alleys in the Downtown core, as well as on City & Regional roadways, city-owned property, bush & dense bush areas and parkland.
  • Winter work includes snow plowing and salting.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

NOTE:

Initial selection for available positions will be for applications received prior to March 10, 2024. Applications received after this date will be kept in an application pool in case of future opportunities.    

 

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid MTO DZ class driver's license in good standing and ability to provide Drivers Abstract at your own expense as a condition of employment.
  • Good communication skills with an ability to keep accurate written records.
  • Able to perform a wide variety of duties including manual labour and be prepared to be trained in the operation of all related equipment and work skills.
  • Must have good customer service skills.
  • Ability to participate as an effective team member.  
  • Must be reliable with a good attitude and employment record.
