Regional Vice President

The position of Regional Vice President is responsible for leading a group of direct sellers to exceed assigned company goals for the profitable growth of revenue and our sellers within their assigned region. While the primary responsibility is to provide leadership and management direction to drive sales through effective coaching and development of their people, the RVP Performs classic sales management activities including expectation setting (sales activity, pipeline management, quota assignment, etc.), in-the-field sales skill coaching, forecasting, time and territory management, client development, recognizing performance, holding sellers accountable for non-performance, establishing account assignments, team culture, administrative responsibilities, people development, and new hire recruitment, selection and onboarding, and whatever else it takes to ensure the regions success.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes assigned region and customer assignments to develop a plan of action in conjunction with the VP Sales to grow revenue, and exceed their assigned quota (e.g., retention, and expansion sales required, as well as targeted services/products).
  • Assigns accounts to individual Account Directors optimizing the match between client needs, existing productive relationships, bandwidth, geographic location, and competencies.
  • Allocates the regional quotas to the sales team, and through one-on-one sessions establishes territory-specific plans of action (e.g., who to target, weekly call activity, required sales behavior, etc.).
  • Meets frequently with each Account Director to review sales productivity, selling behavior, progress-to-plan and sales pipeline accuracy and make any necessary adjustments.
  • Spends a minimum of three days per week in the field working with sales team members on execution of their territory plan. Uses field time to coach their sales people (e.g., observe sales practices/skills, demonstrate appropriate sales practices/skills, and provide feedback on selling behavior from live sales call observations).
  • Works with key clients and establishes relationships with executives and throughout the industry.
  • Recognizes outstanding sales activity and performance within and outside the sales team.  Establishes and leads a team culture that promotes engagement, performance, team work, accountability, and fun.
  • Holds sales people accountable for achieving their quota, behavior and activity expectations. Utilizes coaching to address performance issues, but readily applies Cisions performance improvement process for those sales team members who are not meeting company KPIs or are not responding to skills coaching.
  • Works collaboratively with other sales and functional leaders to ensure that all accounts are sold and serviced in an effective and efficient manner, and in compliance with our client’s expectations.
  • Fully satisfies the company’s and manager’s expectations related to sales reporting (sales activity, opportunity updates, pipeline, forecasting, customer profiling, etc.), and administration.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • RVP must be located within sales territory they are managing and/or in an Operations Center, if applicable.

Qualifications:

  • 5 years + of demonstrated success selling and servicing software and solutions to Fortune 1000 clients.
  • 5 years + of demonstrated success of leading sales team, successful sales management experience, with proven, and a track record of achieving or exceeding quota, along with the ability to retain and grow top performers.
  • Ability to use technology and tools (Excel, Outlook, Salesforce.com, etc.) to run the business, possess solution selling skills, ability to understand and apply market intelligence to sales strategy, to implement regional business plans to ensure revenue retention and expansion and ability to train/ lead/ reinforce a sales methodology with sellers.
  • Ability to be in the field at least three times per week, with the potential for overnight travel, depending upon the location of one’s direct reports.
  • Highly developed analytical, organizational, selling, and leadership skills.
  • Keen interest in driving sales by coaching and developing others.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in high-pressure and multiple-task environments.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Strong interest in business news, public relations, marketing, communications and investor relations.
  • High level of business and financial acumen.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours in accordance with company needs/work flow demands.
  • Bachelor's Degree and valid U.S. Driver’s License required.
