Location(s): San Antonio, Texas (on-site) | Lackland Air Force Base (AFB) & Camp Bullis (Could support one or both bases) | Occasional travel to bases in Kirtland, NM, Fayetteville, NC or Panama City, FL may be required at times

Summary:
CICONIX is seeking six (6) Swimming Coaches with three (3) years of experience to support the Special Warfare Training Wing (SWTW), Human Performance (HP) and Support Services (SS) for the U.S. Department of Defense, Air Education and Training Command (AETC). The Swimming Coaches will have daily contact with junior Airmen. As such, they must adhere to the highest standards of conduct in their interface with these Airmen; and understand the student/instructor relationship; the duties of the coaches; and provide the experienced, professional, administrative, and technical support required to achieve the desired degree of student preparation to accomplish SWTW Training Pipeline goals.

About the Role:
  • Demonstrate and perform physical training modules with students.
  • Demonstrate the points of performance for the exercises codified in the curriculum, and ensure exercises are being performed to established SW standards.
  • Prepare students for success in the SW Training Pipeline by working with candidates to maximize their potential in aquatics and physical training modules. This shall include guidance and application of physical preparedness and training techniques for the physical abilities assessments and evaluations to include, but not limited to, swim stroke development with and without fins, water confidence, running, and lower and upper body development.
  • Perform physical testing IAW established guidelines approved by the SWTW.
  • Interface with the active-duty members to gain relevant career field and military information applicable to the SW curriculum.
  • Recommend solutions to establish and maintain database/spreadsheet records of SW students and their status in the course, specifically regarding students’ performance on the physical fitness assessments and evaluations.
  • Assist in the collection and proper storage of SWTW Training Pipeline-related data as necessary.
  • Execute the SWTW established and approved academic curriculum with oversight from government personnel.
  • As appropriate for the given situation, provide authorized medical attention to injured or ill students during training evolutions.
  • Present training modules to student classes in various forums to include, but not limited to, classrooms, pool decks, workout facilities and others as required.
  • Coaches shall be available to meet coach coverage requirements across SWTW Courses and Programs on JBSA Lackland, Chapman Annex, JBSA Camp Bullis and the virtual training space.
  • Coaches shall provide physical training instruction and services to SWTW Permanent Party Active Duty and Civilian staff as a secondary priority.
  • Coaches shall physically train themselves as a secondary priority as time permits and when directed by the Program Manager.
  • Coaches may be required to assist in the testing of HP technology and equipment while training students, staff, or themselves.
  • Coaches may be invited to voluntarily participate in government-approved human subjects research studies. Participation will be strictly voluntary and declining to participate will have no impact on contract performance, employment or evaluation.
  • Coaches shall be responsible for tracking and submitting their own Human Performance utilization metrics via the HP Utilization Tracker on a weekly basis. A minimum of 1040 hours must be tracked on a yearly basis.
  • Coaches must adhere to and implement Government HP Programming adjustments provided by the assigned GS Strength and Conditioning Coaches.
  • Coaches must provide consistent, active coaching, including clear communication of instructions, feedback, and motivation to students during training sessions.
  • Coaches must possess and maintain the physical capability to perform all required duties, including in-water demonstrations and prolonged periods of activity in the pool. This includes demonstrating swimming techniques, assisting students in the water, and responding effectively in emergency situations.

Qualifications:
  • Education:
    • Bachelor of Science (B.S.), or Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Health and Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field. 
  • Licensure & Certifications (Current & Unrestricted): 
    • Active Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification.
    • All Coaches shall be CPR/AED Certified. 
    • Coaches shall have and maintain USA Swim Coach Education Requirement and Foundation of Coaching 101/102 and/or American Swimming Coaches Association (ASCA) Level 1 & 2.
    • All Swim Coaches shall be qualified Lifeguards (American Red Cross Certification).
  • Experience: 
    • A minimum of three (3) years equivalent experience working as a Coach or physical fitness leader in a similar field and environment.
    • Experience as a coach or athlete in competitive level swimming (club, collegiate, or Olympic) or water confidence instructional experience from either AF Pararescue Indoctrination course, Special Tactics Training School’s Pre dive course or a SOCOM accredited combat dive course.
  • Security & Background Check: 
    • U.S. Citizenship and a successful background investigation are required.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance. 
  • Additional Requirements:
    • Willingness to comply with the government vaccination requirements.
    • Coaches must pass the Physical Fitness Test within 15 days of reporting to SWTW and must pass annual Physical Fitness Test as well.
      • The Physical Fitness Test Standards will be provided to applicants during the interview process for the role.
    • All Coaches must successfully complete the High-Risk Training Course, the Adjunct Faculty Course, and other government provided training as determined by the SWTW Chief Learning Officer, within 30 days after beginning employment.
