OVERVIEW
  • Position:  Epidemiologist/Health Scientist (Senior & Journeyman)
  • Location:  REMOTE (occasional trips to Falls Church, VA so must live in Washington, DC area)
  • Clearance:  SECRET or above (current)
  • Work status:  PART-TIME/CONTRACT.  Days/times vary, approximately 40-50 hours/month
  • Compensation: 
    • Senior: $50-65/hr (DoE and level)
    • Journeyman: $35-50/hr (DoE and level)
DETAILS
Program Description
Defense Health Agency’s (DHA) Health Promotion and Wellness (HPW) Functional Area oversees prevention and wellness requirements and capabilities, including: 
  • Health promotion governance and coordination
  • Health promotion education and training
  • Health promotion assessment and evaluation
  • Newly established and Congressionally directed Military Families Outdoors initiative.
Position Duties
  • Typically works on high-visibility or mission critical aspects of a given program and performs all functional duties independently.
  • May oversee the efforts of less senior staff and/or be responsible for the efforts of all staff assigned to a specific job
  • Health Promotion Organizational & Strategic Planning - provide consultation and support for health promotion strategy, strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, and coordination
  • Health Promotion & Prevention - provide consultation and support for policy development and maintenance and health promotion special projects
Requirements
  • Senior
    • Minimum of 8 years of applicable experience
    • BA/BS is required, an MA/MS degree preferred
  • Journeyman
    • Between 3 to 8 years of applicable experience
    • BA/BS is required, an MA/MS degree preferred
  • Experience supporting the medically related readiness for DoD or other federal agency policies, programs, and activities.
  • Experience supporting policy formulation and program oversight of the Military or other federal agency Health System.
  • Experience supporting the delivery of health benefits to service members, civilians, retirees, survivors, and their families.
  • Experience supporting the Joint, integrated Combat Support Agency that enables the Army, Navy, and Air Force or other federal agency medical services to provide a medically ready military or civilian force.
