Biomedical Equipment Repair Technician
CICONIX, a Veteran-Owned Small Business (VOSB) specializing in military and Veterans healthcare, is seeking a Biomedical Equipment Repair Technician to assist the Armed Forces Medical Examiner System (AFMES) provide medical-legal investigations, forensic analysis, and pathology services for U.S. military personnel, DoD civilians, and eligible individuals.
Job Overview:
This role provides specialized support for forensic toxicology, forensic DNA, and autopsy labs, focusing on biomedical equipment maintenance and repair. Responsibilities include performing preventative maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and technical evaluations, while managing equipment records in DMLSS and coordinating with logistics and vendors to ensure operational readiness. The ideal candidate has at least five years of experience, a high school diploma or associate’s degree, and proficiency in Microsoft Office for documentation and administrative support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide subject matter expertise to Forensic toxicology, Forensic DNA, and Medical Examiner autopsy laboratories on biomedical maintenance and equipment repair.
- Function as a liaison between logistics, vendors and users.
- Monitor and perform all preventative maintenance, monitor status of all medical equipment to ensure current and future mission requirements are met and forecast replacement of equipment upon completion of life expectancy. Perform inspection, assembly, installation, troubleshooting, repair, calibration/verification/certification, and electrical safety testing on equipment as assigned.
- Restore equipment operation to serviceable standards before returning it to user.
- Perform spot checks on-site, returned commercial and depot repairs; and scheduled service performance for proper workmanship and technical quality.
- Prepare in-house electronic form for parts and contract service requests.
- Cross reference part number to manufacturer’s specification and ensure accuracy of cross reference and will check work order file daily.
- Complete work orders by filling in labor time spent, parts information, and totals before completing work order in DMLSS.
- Monitor and update DMLSS maintenance records (i.e., Maintenance Interval without (w/o) a Date Due, Equipment w/o a Maintenance Plan, Monthly Timesheets, etc.).
- Perform scheduled Preventative Maintenance Calibration Services (PMCS) as assigned in accordance with manufacturers' literature or other technical manuals.
- Verify equipment serial number, model number, and nomenclature on the Scheduled Services Work Order listing and records any discrepancies.
- Open a repair work order in Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support (DMLSS) to correct problems beyond the PMCS service.
- Inspect for issue, all newly purchased equipment and ensure inventory is complete in accordance with purchase contract.
- Perform technical evaluations for turn-in of equipment and applies accurate condition code in accordance with DHA Policies and directives.
- Inspect contracted medical equipment to determine problem and accompanies vendors during on-site repairs.
- Confirm final cost of each commercial service when completed and posts man-hours and labor cost to work order as work by other.
- Accompany Radiation Survey Officer when a radiation survey is performed and ensure a copy of survey is turned into the file coordinator for inclusion in the historical maintenance files.
- Practice and ensures shop safety at all times and keeps personally assigned tools secure and in serviceable condition.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma; Associate’s degree preferred
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience
- Desired knowledge and experience in filing techniques; administrative typing; preparing and editing technical or general documentation using various software packages such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel and Windows; transcription of documents, data entry, and preparing and editing management support documentation.
