Diesel Shop Foreman

Chief Carriers is seeking a Diesel Shop Foreman to join the Chief team. In this position you will guarantee safe and timely repairs to equipment in the shop for P.M. or repair. You will also supervise activities of all shop employees to provide efficiency and productivity and safety.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assigns jobs to technicians and follows up on progress and provides assistance when necessary.
  • Assigns and monitors work of tarp repair employees.
  • Maintains positive relationship with drivers by good communication and timely service and repairs.
  • Responsible for floor level operations of the shop to ensure most efficient and cost effective maintenance.
  • Assists with employee scheduling, productivity reviews and daily operation of the shop.
  • Inspects vehicles for roadworthiness and list any work required.
  • Works with Maintenance Manager, Operations and Safety departments to help communicate repairs needed and determine most effective time and solution for repair.
  • Maintains superior customer relations with internal customers, drivers, and external vendors.
  • Diagnose and repair components of fleet equipment.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and take appropriate actions, recommend process changes, and initiate improvements.

Qualifications and Skill Requirements:

  • Requires knowledge of mechanical truck and diesel engine repair
  • 3-5 years’ Diesel Mechanic experience
  • Supervisory experience required
  • Must have the ability to diagnose and repair diesel trucks
  • Class A Commercial Drivers License
