Chief Carriers is seeking a Truck and Trailer Repair Technician to maintain our fleet of late model trucks and flatbed trailers to join the Chief team. This position is responsible for performing preventative maintenance and repair on trucks, trailers, shop and yard equipment to Company and DOT standards. Technicians complete all needed repairs keeping quality, safety, and expediency at the forefront always. Technicians are also responsible for optimizing the economic use of shop equipment and supplies, inventory control, processing repair order paperwork, DOT, and company forms.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and repair heavy-duty trucks and trailers, including preventative maintenance, inspections, repair of major component groups including engine, powertrain, brakes, suspension, steering, frame attachments, and cargo securement equipment.
  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve truck and trailer related issues in major and minor component groups including electrical and APUs. 
  • Performs preventative maintenance (PM) on tractor and trailer equipment including routine technical repairs and documenting of repair orders. 
  • Document all work order details within the company’s internal order and billing program. 
  • Use effective interpersonal skills to maintain positive working relationships with all company personnel and external customers and vendors. 
  • Contribute to the goals of the Maintenance Department and company. 
  • Work additional hours in accordance with business needs and other demands of the position.

 

Qualifications and Skill Requirements:

  • ​​Technical school certification or advanced degree in diesel engines and electronics preferred.
  • Relevant experience in heavy duty truck and trailer repairs.
  • Valid driver’s license required; Commercial driver’s license preferred​.
