Desktop Support Technician
Description
Chief Industries’ Corporate Office is seeking a Desktop Support Technician to join the Chief team. This position provides expert technical support and guidance to system users. This role involves installing, modifying, and repairing computer hardware and software systems. The technician will troubleshoot issues in person, remotely, by phone, or via chat, ensuring timely and accurate resolution. Additionally, the technician will assist the Network and System Infrastructure Team with large company projects as needed. Strong communication skills are essential for this role.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform onsite analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex computer problems for end users, recommending and implementing corrective solutions, including offsite repair for remote users as needed.
- Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshooting end-user workstations and related hardware and software.
- Collaborate with network and system administrators to ensure efficient operation of the company’s end-user computing environment.
- Perform hands-on fixes at the desktop level when remote tools are not appropriate, including hardware repairs and delivery of peripherals.
- Respond to incoming calls, service desk tickets, email, or chat regarding equipment incidents.
- Develop and maintain an inventory of all monitors, keyboards, hard drives, network cards, and other components and equipment as needed.
- Assist in developing long-term strategies and capacity planning for meeting future end-user device needs.
Education:
- High School Diploma, or GED, required.
- An associate or bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or relevant experience in a similar position, preferred.
Qualifications and Skill Requirements:
- 1-2 years of relevant IT experience or strong technical aptitude
- Knowledge of computer systems and software.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Able to learn quickly and adapt to changing technology.
