The Controller is responsible for all accounting functions at Chief Ethanol Fuels, Inc. This position will oversee financial records, inventory costing, payroll, AP and AR, and daily operations of the subsidiary’s accounting department. The Controller will provide leadership and accounting guidance in a growing and dynamic environment.  
 

 

Job Summary:
The Controller is responsible for all accounting functions at Chief Ethanol Fuels, Inc. This position will oversee financial records, inventory costing, payroll, AP and AR, and daily operations of the subsidiary’s accounting department. The Controller will provide leadership and accounting guidance in a growing and dynamic environment.  
 
Education:
·        Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, with a CPA preferred but not required

 
Experience: 
·        5 year’s experience in accounting/finance required
·        Management experience preferred 
·        Knowledge of general ledger, budgeting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cost accounting preferred 
·        ERP and spreadsheet proficient 

 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
·        Oversee the activities of the Accounting Department for Chief Ethanol Hastings and Lexington locations, including but not limited to, internal and corporate monthly financial statements and forecasts, annual audits, and annual budgets.
·        Facilitate the engagement, growth and development of staff through hiring, proper training, cross-training, educational opportunities, timely feedback and performance reviews
·        Manage the month end process including proper revenue recognition, financial statement preparation and review, capital spending, balance sheet reconciliations, corporate reporting, and monthly forecasting.
·        Ensure an accurate and timely monthly and year end close in accordance with GAAP.
·        Be a key management partner to help identify and improve processes, costing and efficiencies to maximize shareholder value.
·        Manage the activities of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, and payroll. Provide accurate and timely inventory oversight for inventory valuation, commodity tracking, and maintenance analysis.
·        Assist in the development and review of capital expenditure requests for purposes of maximizing long-range profits.
·        Review and approve all bonus calculations for payment in accordance with signed agreements.
·        Monitor ERP system use and implement continuous improvement to maximize system performance.
·        Establish and maintain systems and controls necessary to ensure proper internal controls, and integrity and accuracy of data.
·        Responsible for division compliance with corporate and division accounting policies and procedures.
·        Perform analysis to direct the General Manager and management group for proactive business decisions to maximize shareholder value. The Controller will be a trusted business advisor to the General Manager and work closely on a daily basis to make decisions in the best interests of the division.
·        Manage division responsibilities for IT, Human Resources, and Legal functions, within the framework of Chief Corporate structures.
 

Supervisory Responsibilities: Oversees the accounting department and human resource personnel. Direct reports include Senior and Staff Accountants, Senior Accounting and Accounting Clerks.
