Chevo Consulting is seeking an experience Federal Senior Accountant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have the ability to conduct comprehensive research and analysis of technical and general ledger accounting and preparations of federal financial statements and notes. Preferred experience would include supporting financial management system(s) modernization efforts across DHS or any federal agency. This position is hybrid work environment, with the client site located in Washington DC metro area. Applicants must reside in the Washington DC metro area.
 
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Performing a wide variety of analytical studies and projects related to management improvement, productivity improvement, management controls, and long-range planning including developing guidance on techniques for management and methods improvement.
  • Read, interpret, and develop financial management procedural documents.
  • Research, analyze and reconcile intragovernmental payments and collections (IPACs) and intragovernmental/intradepartmental transactions (i.e., trading partner, advances).
  • Research, interpret and apply legislative and governing authorities to develop federal financial management policy, regulations, and directives.
  • Research and implement best practices to remediate and advise on audit findings and internal control deficiencies.
  • Develop point papers, briefing materials, graphical presentations, and to make formal oral presentations of these materials to all levels of government personnel.
  • Reference and apply standards such as FMFIA, FFMIA, FISMA, GAO audit and internal control-related guidance.
  • Develop point papers, briefing materials, graphical presentations, and to make formal oral presentations of these materials to all levels of government personnel.
  • Analyze and advise on proposed reorganizations or realignment of functions and developing manuals and directives covering varying aspects of operations.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree and / or 4-8 years or more of experience in accounting. Candidate shall be recognized as an expert in their specific field(s).
  • Six (6) years of related management consulting/accounting experience.
  • Experience conducting studies, analyzing findings, and making recommendations on substantive operating programs that required applying a knowledge of qualitative and quantitative analytical techniques along with a knowledge of the mission, organization, and work processes of the programs and the relationships of administrative support activities.
  • Experience using and developing applications using SharePoint
  • Solid experience, including but not limited to strategy, business development, project management or a similar field.
  • Strong qualitative, analytical, and conceptual problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate others.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Teams and Outlook, SharePoint, and Skype applications.
  • Strong understanding of federal property accounting (i.e., capitalization, depreciation, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of budgetary accounting.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with senior Government personnel.
  • Ability to conduct comprehensive research and analysis.
  • Ability to develop point papers, briefing materials and to make oral presentation of these materials to all levels of management.
  • Ability to educate and inform senior management on various alternatives.
  • Ability to provide clear leadership, technical direction, and guidance to all level of the OCFO leadership.
  • Ability to review, synthesize and prepare highly technical, sensitive, and complex documents, briefing materials, management directives and correspondences.
