Description

Chevo is hiring an experienced Senior Applications Software Programmer to join our expanding firm. This position provides the opportunity for significant client interaction by learning the client’s business and becoming a trusted advisor.  Ideal candidates will demonstrate versatility in understanding and performing work related to a Federal Government Data Analytics program, preferably in the Healthcare field. 
 
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop information systems by studying operations; designing, developing, and installing software solutions; supports and develops software team.
  • Develop software solutions by studying information needs; conferring with users; studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes; investigating problem areas; following the software development lifecycle.
  • Determine operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions.
  • Develop database schema that describes how data relates to other tables or other data models; communicates the architecture of the database.
  • Document and demonstrates solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code.
  • Prepare and install solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming.
  • Improve operations by conducting systems analysis; recommending changes in policies and procedures.
  • Protect operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Provide information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing development and service issues.
  • Support and develop software engineers by providing advice, coaching and educational opportunities.
  • Analyze, design, develop, and implement software programs as well as system documentation according to specifications and standards.
  • Applies programming techniques to create, test and maintain computer programs to meet the data and analytic reporting needs of IHSC and any other program areas.
  • Present data warehousing/data lake options based on storage needs.
  • Design and code the data warehousing/data lake system to specific requirements.
  • Test and implement application software (e.g., Excel, Access, SQL, Oracle, Power BI for Microsoft Azure) with regards to collecting, processing, accumulating, and storing data.
  • Maintain state-of-the-art or robust repository (or database system) and SharePoint pages of unstructured and open-source data.
  • Collect, edit, and verify data; and document data entry and related procedures.
  • Analyze data using geographic information system (GIS) equipment and programs to produce integrated maps and analysis.
  • Act as a resource, providing support to staff with respect to software applications, database structure and use, downloading protocols, word processing, query languages and reporting tools.
  • Provide training to the users once the data analytics tool is built and created.
  • Construct new functionality of data analytics tool, as required by IHSC program staff.
  • Arrange specifications by developing logical sequence; prepares flowcharts; research programming solutions.
  • Verify encoding by performing trial runs; modify code.
Required Qualifications
  • Master of Arts or Master of Science (MA/MS) degree required in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, Information Management, or a closely related field
  • A minimum of at least ten (10) years of data analytics and programming related experience or relevant/similar experience which includes experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities with all of the following:
  • Experience in at least two (2) programming applications software packages (e.g., Java or C/C++ or .NET or WebLogic, etc.), preferably including knowledge of relational database design, the ability to read and understand data dictionaries, data coding, and the ability to infer the relationship of the tables to the application and the process;
  • Advanced level of understanding about/experience with maintaining and complying with requirements for the following task areas: collecting, compiling, processing, normalizing, analyzing and interpreting data using systems support tools such as SQL, Python, Oracle, Power BI, Tableau, Access, and Excel;
  • Experience with documenting and reviewing data sharing agreements,
  • Outstanding customer service and communication skills relaying technical concepts;
  • Experience with managing data quality, cleansing, tagging and metadata management;
  • Experience with testing and implementing application software with regards to collecting, process, and storing data
