Role Overview
As an integral member of the People Team, this colleague will play an important role in supporting the firm’s aspirations to develop and retain exceptional colleagues who are deeply committed to the firm’s mission and to each other. Reporting to the AVP of Talent Development, they will help lead the development of management consulting colleagues, balancing client needs, the firm’s business objectives, and individual colleague development. In addition, they will make meaningful contributions to the design and delivery of firmwide learning and development initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Develop relationships with consultants to gain an understanding of their experiences, strengths, and development needs; incorporate these professional development considerations into the staffing process
- Maintain an understanding of expertise/experience profiles for key offerings/project types and how colleague expertise/experience aligns with those needs
- Partner with engagement leaders to assign colleagues to consulting projects, balancing both our colleagues’, clients’, and firm’s needs. Serve as the primary staffing contact for project leaders and communicate staffing decisions and rationale to both the engagement team leadership and individual consultants
- Maintain deep understanding of key resource management metrics and how they impact the firm’s financial performance
- Ensure alignment between the firm’s revenue forecasts and colleague assignments
- Maintain high level of proficiency in resource management tools and systems, working with team members to ensure that data is current, complete and accurate at all times
- Proactively review staffing data and develop meaningful insights on trends, forecasts, opportunities for improvement, and areas of concern. Provide practice leaders with resource management insights and recommendations
- Facilitate the firm’s performance management process (e.g., 90-day feedback, semi-annual reviews, upward feedback) in collaboration with the calibration committees and professional development colleagues
- Identify and address capability-building needs by colleague cohort/segment
- Serve as a collaborative partner to leaders of other departments/functions (e.g., recruiting, learning, finance, talent operations)
- Lead and/or support a range of talent-related initiatives, working with firm leaders, People Team colleagues, and external partners
- Demonstrate an understanding of our DE&I tenets and a commitment to our firm’s core values in daily interactions.
Qualifications and Desired Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field required; Master’s degree preferred
- At least 5 years of management consulting or professional services experience
- Strong critical thinker with proven ability to navigate ambiguous situations
- Excellent project management skills; ability to manage details while maintaining a big picture view
- Outstanding communications skills, including proven ability to negotiate and influence others
- Strong leadership presence and credibility with firm leaders
- Technologically savvy, with experience overseeing the implementation and ongoing refinement of systems in a fast-moving environment
- Ability to adhere to the highest process standards and stand firm on decisions while working under pressure with competing priorities
- Exceptional responsiveness, follow through, and resilience
- A high level of “emotional intelligence” as demonstrated by the ability to build trust and rapport, show empathy, read others, and listen exceptionally well
- Strong facilitation and presentation skills; learning program delivery experience preferred
- Demonstrated record of high-impact coaching and mentorship; known as a “people developer”
- Outstanding judgement, maturity and fairness in dealing with people and confidential information
Salary range: $100,000-$150,000, plus may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. The salary range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications, practice area, and other business and organizational needs.
