Position Overview:
As the Occupational Health Nurse for Workers’ Compensation, you will play a critical role in managing all aspects of Workers’ Compensation administration. This position involves reviewing and investigating work-related injuries, handling claims, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and collaborating with various stakeholders to achieve optimal outcomes for our employees.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Claims Management: Review and investigate employee work-related injuries and illnesses, initiate claims with Workers’ Compensation insurance carriers, and ensure all documentation is completed accurately and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Claims Monitoring: Track existing claims and collaborate with insurance carriers and healthcare providers to ensure favorable outcomes.
  • Documentation Review: Review Loss Runs for accuracy and monitor incurred costs.
  • Return to Work: Facilitate the safe and timely return to work of injured employees and manage workplace accommodations.
  • Claims Review Meetings: Attend meetings with brokers and carriers to discuss claims and strategies.
  • Trend Analysis: Analyze workplace injury trends and work with management and safety teams to develop strategies to reduce incidents.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to OSHA Recordkeeping and Reporting requirements as per OSHA Standard 1904.
  • Hearings: Attend Workers’ Compensation hearings and provide testimony as required.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Maintain a current understanding of Workers’ Compensation laws and OSHA regulations.
Qualifications:
  • Education Required: Associate’s degree in Nursing.
  • Licensing/Certification Required: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State. Working knowledge of NYS Workers’ Compensation Law is required.
  • Education Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN) preferred.
  • Experience Required: Minimum of 5 years of experience in Occupational Health Nursing with substantial knowledge of NYS Workers’ Compensation Law.
  • Skills: Excellent communication skills, both oral and written; strong problem-solving and negotiating abilities; proficiency in relevant mathematical computations; current knowledge of benefit administration practices and regulations.
 
The salary range for this position is $79,040 to $89,440 and is commensurate with education and experience.
