We are looking for a full time Registered Charge Nurse to join our Langan School team. This position is based at Langan School in Albany.  The Langan School program of the Center for Disability Services is a private, non-profit school for students with severe disabilities between the ages of 3 and 21.
                                       This is a school calendar position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate effective communication among nursing staff, support departments, and external stakeholders.
  • Assist in managing resident incident reports under the direction of the Director of Nursing (DON).
  • Attend administrative meetings in the absence of the DON as required.
  • Support resident admissions and discharges, including participation in new student screening meetings.
  • Participate in staff interviews and contribute to District Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with Health and Safety Plans, IEPs, Care Plans, physicals, immunizations, and other medical requirements.
  • Conduct routine assessments and administer first aid to residents as necessary.
  • Serve as a resource for nursing staff, overseeing daily nursing functions within the school.
  • Maintain accurate medical records in compliance with State Education Department and Department of Health regulations.
  • Initiate infection control measures and oversee cleaning protocols as needed.
  • Perform regular audits and ensure completion of assigned tasks including medication management and documentation. 
Physical Demands and Working Environment:
  • Manage medical emergencies and potentially challenging situations, including exposure to blood borne pathogens.
  • Ability to lift heavy loads up to 150 pounds with assistance and perform physical tasks related to patient care.
  • Handle multiple responsibilities, prioritize tasks, and delegate effectively.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • NYS Licensure and Registration as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant RN experience required; experience as an RN Charge Nurse preferred.
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
Preferred Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or related field.

The compensation range for this position is $74,353 - $80,437. Salary is commensurate with experience and education.
