Certain Affinity is the largest independent developer in Texas, based out of Austin, and we have a growing presence in Toronto, Canada. As a Vista Artist at Certain Affinity, you have opportunities to set the quality bar for our internal team by creating and visualizing the environment by fine-tuning all elements, including skybox, set dressing, materials, and composition

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Art Director to create amazing Vistas on AAA-quality projects.
  • Build and implement art assets that leverage your experience and maintain the budget for real-time rendering and pre-rendered cinematics.
  • Help contribute to the look, design, and mood of environments through concept, 3D, and lighting
  • Investigate new and interesting ways to design and create vistas in an ever-changing landscape of technology.
  • Be flexible and willing to help other departments if needed.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience creating environments in either the game or film industries.
  • Expert level of knowledge of 3D and 2D software packages to create assets.
  • Solid understanding of art fundamentals.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new technology on the fly when needed.
  • Solid grasp of performance requirements and constraints of the current-generation console and PC development
  • Ability to work within a style and effectively communicate o the rest of the team.
  • Can initiate visual direction without a specific concept or design
  • A desire to work in a diverse and inclusive environment
  • Team player with the drive and initiative to deliver extremely high-quality work within performance and time restrictions.

Extra Credit

  • Mentor other artists on technique and process
  • Being excited to dive into proprietary engines occasionally
  • Ability and desire to lead a small team
  • Ability to create 2d concepts and paintovers
  • Shipped 1+ AAA title in the last three years
