JOB DESCRIPTION

 

 

JOB TITLE: Payment and Authorization Specialist

DEPARTMENT: Negotiations

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:  Payment and Authorizations Team Lead

FLSA STATUS:  Hourly

 

JOB SUMMARY:

 

This position is responsible for obtaining express consent from our clients to finalize the settlements on their accounts as well as calling in payments to the appropriate creditors.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Specific duties include:

 

  • Call in check by phone payments to the appropriate creditors
  • Process all emails from the Settlement Team email inbox
  • Utilizing an automated phone system to reach clients for the following settlement activity:
    • Obtaining client authorization for settlement offers
    • Assist clients in setting up personal check by phones to pay settlement offers
    • Coaching a client through a settlement
    • Conference creditor and client to complete an aspect of a settlement arrangement
    • Obtain additional funds to complete a settlement offer
  • Locating accounts that require additional resources to complete a settlement

 

KNOWLEDGE AND ESSENTIAL SKILLS

 

  • Excellent knowledge of accounting, bookkeeping, and banking practices
  • Data entry skills
  • Computer proficiency
  • Ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Problem solving
  • Detail oriented
  • Knowledge of and access to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act

 

EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE

 

Any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Credit, Collection, and Customer Service experience background.
