Position Summary:  Inspire Home Loans (a Century Communities, Inc. company) is searching for a Chief Compliance Officer to join our management team.  The Chief Compliance Officer is responsible for overseeing, managing, and maintaining the company’s compliance management system. This position is responsible for reviewing and evaluating the compliance issues of the company in an independent manner, keeping the company’s executives informed and updated on the company’s compliance programs and procedures as well as directing and managing the daily operations of the Compliance Department. The Chief Compliance Officer must be able to build strong relationships with all levels of the company and interface with all internal and external contacts in a professional manner and will interact with states, agencies, vendors, employees, and internal departments to fulfill requests and obligations. This position reports to the General Counsel and can be located in Newport Beach, CA, Denver, CO or Charlotte, NC.

 Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • The Chief Compliance Officer will collaborate with senior management to ensure regulatory compliance related matters are addressed in a timely and effective manner; 
  • Maintain an expert level of knowledge with the requirements of the various laws, regulations, rules governing the mortgage company's activities;
  • Develop and maintain compliance policies and procedures;
  • Manage compliance support including responding to daily questions, testing new technology releases and reviewing daily compliance reports;
  • Collaborate on the development of processes for new consumer financial products or services, distribute channels or strategies to determine degree of compliance and consider fair lending compliance risk;
  • Develop and administer a compliance training program;
  • Act as the leadership liaison with regulatory examining authorities on compliance-related matters and coordinate examination activities; 
  • Establish and oversee an appropriate audit and monitoring program;
  • Ensure responses and corrective action related to exceptions disclosed through Compliance Monitoring, Audit Reviews and Regulatory Examination Report findings are effectively implemented;
  • Report, at least annually, the effectiveness of the Compliance Management System (CMS);
  • Manage compliance staff.

 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Background:

  • Extensive understanding and advanced knowledge of mortgage technology. Experience with Encompass, Optimal Blue, and KnowledgeCoop a plus.
  • Clear understanding of the entire loan origination/processing life cycle.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to collaborate and find solutions.
  • Strong presentation skills and comfortable presenting to senior management.
  • Attention to detail and organizations skills.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent business-related experience. Advanced degree or CMCP a plus.
  • Must have 10+ years of mortgage related experience, to include compliance, QC, underwriting, production, operations.
  • Prior experience with Secondary Marketing, a plus.
  • 5-7 years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of State and Federal mortgage lending laws and regulations to include, but not limited to: Fair Lending, HMDA, ECOA, TILA, RESPA, FCRA, Fraud Prevention, SAFE Act.
  • Experience reviewing marketing materials including social media.
  • Prior experience conducting, responding and reporting to internal and external compliance/regulatory reviews and audits.
  • Knowledge of loan products to include Conventional, FHA, VA, USDA and state bond programs.
