Description

As an independent contractor, this Provider will offer direct psychiatry care to participants as well as participate in the development of behavioral health care systems and plans for participants. CEI is proud to have this opportunity for a psychiatrist to join a team-based practice with opportunities for team building, and teaching.

This is an opportunity to participate in a leading national organization to deliver comprehensive, coordinated value-based medical and social care for a diverse low-income population facing increasing behavioral health challenges.

Role includes provision of:

  • Direct psychiatric care for patients referred by other team members, including prescribing and adjusting medications, counseling and therapy, and providing guidance to family members, caregivers, and staff regarding participant diagnoses and care. 
  • Consultation with social workers, physicians, nurse practitioners, and others regarding the ongoing care of participants with behavioral problems,
  • Education and team capacity building for interdisciplinary team (IDT) members regarding behavioral health care issues working collaboratively with physicians, nurse practitioners, social workers, psychologists, clinic leadership, and site managers to build a strong system of care.

Qualifications:

  • Must have an M.D. degree and a current, unrestricted license in California.
  • Minimum of 1 years’ experience working with a frail or elderly population.
  • A current DEA Certificate.
  • Desire to work in the framework of a PACE model interdisciplinary team
  • Geriatric experienced preferred
  • Multilingual skills encouraged

20 – 40 hours per week. Schedule is flexible and will be negotiated.

Center for Elders’ Independence is a PACE (Program of All- Inclusive Care for the Elderly) organization that uses an interdisciplinary team approach to care planning and care implementation for the purpose of providing high quality, affordable, integrated health care services to the elderly, including an Adult Day Health Center, and promoting autonomy, quality of life and the ability of individuals to live in their communities. Unlike other healthcare plans, CEI is not a "fee-for-service" plan. It is a “capitation” healthcare plan. CEI is paid a set amount for each person enrolled in our program, whether or not that individual seeks care. We are a growing company that offers stability and continues to thrive.
