The Center for Elders’ Independence is a PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the elderly) organization that uses an interdisciplinary team approach to care planning and care implementation for the purpose of providing high quality, affordable, integrated health care services to the elderly, including an Adult Day Health Center, and promoting autonomy, quality of life and the ability of individuals to live in their communities.

 

The Payroll Administrator is a full time position reporting to the Controller.  The Payroll Coordinator is responsible for the consistent, timely and accurate processing of CEI’s payroll process.  The person in this position will also work closely with employees and hiring managers, ensuring proper processing of all time sheets and other events.  The position also requires close coordination with the Human Resources department regarding job changes including new hires, terminations, wage changes, benefits and other HR matters.  Payroll processing including: processing bi-weekly payroll, maintaining ADP payroll databases and preparing payroll reports.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Processes bi-weekly payroll through ADP including verifying accuracy of the payroll, and ensures employees receive their checks in a timely manner with a strong attention to detail.
  • Setup and maintain changes for employee direct deposit.
  • Process manual checks as approved by Controller
  • Review retroactive payment requests.
  • Process final payment/checks for terminations.
  • Handle check voids and reissues.
  • Creates and maintains Payroll reports utilizing ADP software
  • Prepare and finalize payroll tax and documentation.
  • Assists employees and departments with problem resolution involving
  • Reviews monthly, quarterly and year-end payroll statements. 
  • Utilize ticketing queue with ADP to resolve payroll related issues.
  • Works closely with Human Resources staff and Finance to ensure communications and data flow between departments is timely and accurate.
  • Creates and maintains procedures to ensure compliance with CEI policies and governmental regulations and to improve department efficiency for all payroll functions.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to systems and/or procedure.
  • Other duties as requested by Controller/CFO.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field or equivalent experience required
  • Requires at least 5 years’ experience as a Payroll Coordinator in California utilizing payroll software.
  • Must possess an appropriate level of discretion in maintaining confidentiality given the sensitive nature of the information retained in the office.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is preferred.
  • Strong technical skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and ADP Payroll databases required. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, plan, organize and meet deadlines taking into account changing priorities.
  • Follows all CEI Policies and Procedures.
