The purpose of the Instructor is to lead and contribute to the academic success of students and to the success of the College in achieving its statement of purpose. Under general direction, the Instructor is responsible for providing quality instruction and facilitating student learning according to the prescribed curriculum.


Job Responsibilities 

Specifically, the CADD-S Instructor will be responsible for:

  • Using subject matter expertise to develop curriculum and instructional materials
  • Managing external relationships relevant to program development
  • Acting in a manner that upholds the College standards
  • Other related duties as assigned


To be successful in the CADD-S Instructor position, individuals must be committed to developing, maintaining and demonstrating the following:

Education and Experience:

  • Degree, diploma, or other professional certification in CADD, such as engineering techologist, is required.
  • Degree, diploma, or similar designation in education is ideal
  • Five years’ experience in program field
  • One year experience in curriculum development
  • Knowledge, experience and/or certification specifically in AutoCAD is preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Advanced oral and written communication skills, including presentation, group facilitation and business/proposal writing
  • Relevant industry skills and knowledge relating to the area of development, including ongoing professional development and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to meet project management deadlines with a continued focus on detail.
  • Interest in pedagogical and multi-modal education approaches an asset
  • Ability to provide leadership, direction, coaching and support.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire teamwork.
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to multi-task.
  • Thorough knowledge of computer applications including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Software applications relevant to the program-specific profession would also be required.
  • Ability to develop and maintain working relationships with outside agencies and organizations, particularly with program advisory committee members, regulatory agency contacts, employers, and work placement hosts.
  • Ability to work independently with limited direction.
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain a calm focus during hectic periods.
  • Ability to exhibit a professional attitude and image with a commitment to quality service.
