Understanding the Role

The CCS Analytics Summer Associate program is designed to offer a hands-on learning experience for individuals interested in leveraging data to help nonprofit organizations develop smarter and more impactful fundraising strategies. 

The Associate will work with CCS Fundraising’s Analytics team on a portfolio of external and internal initiatives that will produce client-facing deliverables and help define the team’s long-term planning.  The Associate will support the team across two areas:

  • Design and develop solutions for data analysis and reporting using R and R Markdown
  • Design and develop solutions for predictive modeling using R

 

Qualifications

The CCS Analytics Summer Associate – Data Science will be a graduate or doctoral student interested in the intersection of nonprofit strategy, fundraising and data science.

Other qualifications include:

  • A passion for the nonprofit sector and a keen interest in how data can drive fundraising strategy
  • Knowledge of programming languages, especially R
  • Proficiency with statistics, modeling, machine learning, data visualization, and exploratory data analysis
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to map out and meet goals and deadlines
  • Ability to work independently, with an assigned mentor, and with other members of a very strong team covering challenging and interesting assignments
  • Well-developed communication skills, both verbal and written, are required
