Summary: The Part-Time Student Aid will provide essential support to the program by assisting staff, students, and visitors with daily operational needs. This role supports program coordination, student engagement, and administrative tasks to ensure a safe, organized, and student-centered environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned

•    Assist program staff with day-to-day administrative tasks and general office support.
•    Support with incoming and outgoing phone calls, including taking messages, providing information, and directing calls as needed.
•    Perform phone call collecting to follow up with students, parents, or guardians regarding attendance, appointments, or program requirements.
•    Monitor hallways to ensure student safety, proper conduct, and smooth movement during transitions.
•    Provide front-desk support, greeting students and visitors and offering assistance or directions.
•    Maintain accurate records, sign-in sheets, and other documentation as required.
•    Support staff in preparing materials, organizing activities, and coordinating student services.
•    Support with cell phone collection and distribution.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: Days and hours are Monday to Friday between 8 am - 4 pm. This is a part-time, non-exempt, seasonal position.  

Hourly Rate:  $20.00

Working conditions and physical demands required: The demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

•    Occasional travel to attend/assist at program events/meetings using public transportation, traverse city streets; occasionally ascend/descend stairs and be exposed to outside weather conditions.
•    Ability to operate standard office equipment i.e., copier, fax, scanner, and printer.
•    Ability to use and respond to phone calls.
•    Spend a significant amount of time working with students.

Qualifications: 
Education and/or experience required

•    High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework preferred.
•    Experience working with youth or in a school/program environment is a plus.
•    Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
•    Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced environment.
•    Basic knowledge in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and standard office equipment.
•    Reliable, punctual, and able to work collaboratively with a team.
•    Able to communicate effectively in Spanish and English

Skills, Licenses, and/or Competencies required:

•    Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
•    Computer skills and experience (Internet, Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point).
•    Must be fingerprinted and cleared by NYC DOE (Department of Education) and complete a background check
•    Bilingual, English, and Spanish preferred
