Assistant Program Director
Description
Summary:
Assist the Program Director in overseeing, coordinating, implementation and supervision of comprehensive services to children, youth and families at the Highbridge Gardens Cornerstone Community Center as specified in DYCD contractual provisions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Assist in the day-to-day supervision of activities at the Highbridge Gardens Cornerstone Program.
- Assist Director in monitoring, reporting, program planning and development of program activities for participants ages 5-21 and their families.
- Overall responsibility for the successful program implementation and outcome attainment.
- Work with the Director to insure prompt submission of reports to both agency and funders.
- Maintain participant files onsite as well as enrollment and attendance online and maintain DYCD Online System.
- Assist with supervision and implementation of all activities that occur at the Highbridge Cornerstone Center site; i.e. special events, youth civic engagement projects, recruitment events.
- Help to provide administrative/logistical support to service integration staff.
- Co-facilitate all orientations conducted at the Center.
- Attend monthly meetings and other trainings as needed.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. The days and hours of work are generally 2:00pm - 10:00 pm, Monday through Thursday, Saturday 9:00am - 5:00 pm.

- Ability and patience to work with children and young people, recognizing their exuberance and juvenile behavior, particularly in group settings.
- Remain in a stationary position either working at a computer or monitoring activities.
- Move for long periods, providing instruction.
- Travel when taking field trips, using public transportation, traverse city streets, ascend/descend stairs, and be exposed to outside weather conditions, while escorting youth.
Qualifications
Education and/or experience required:
- High School Diploma or Equivalency with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience working with youth, or, an Associate Degree with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience working with youth.
- At least two (2) years’ Supervisory experience.
- Experience facilitating workshops and providing one on one peer mediation preferred.
- Experience working with families who face exceptional challenges.
