Description
Summary: The International Center provides educational programming for immigrants and refugees with the goal of improving learners’ English proficiency and communication skills. The incumbent will develop, design, and deliver thoughtful and effective ESOL classes and provide individual support and connection to services for English Language Learners.
Salary: $38.00 per hour, part time, 30 - 34 hours per week.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Course Development and Instruction: In coordination with the Program Manager, design and deliver online 10-week ESOL courses over four semesters each year at intermediate and advanced levels. Create thorough and well-developed class curricula focusing on communicative competence for immigrants, aligned with appropriate NRS levels based on student need. In line with the current pedagogy, content will be meaningful and relevant to students’ self-sufficiency outside the classroom.
- Manage and Support Students: Work with other Center staff and additional CCCS services to address student needs outside the classroom. Conduct participant intake, assess language proficiency, and identify goals. Provide weekly support to promote learning, engagement, and retention. Manage class WhatsApp group and provide regular outreach and encouragement to students. Work one-on-one with participants outside of class as needed.
- Monitoring and evaluation: rack attendance, implement class surveys/needs assessments, and assist with reporting for funders.
- Additional Support: Provide general administrative and program support for Center programming as needed, including assisting with student registration, pre- and post-testing students using BEST Plus 3.0, maintaining student records and files. Substitute as an ESOL class instructor as needed.
- Professional Development: Actively participate in internal professional development, designated meetings, and special events, as appropriate and requested.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a part-time, remote position; classes are held in the evenings two to three times per week, with additional flexible hours for student support. Evening hours are required; weekend and occasional in-person hours may be required to meet student and program needs.

- Remain stationary and/or ambulate for the duration of instruction and presentations, addressing and/or monitoring students.
Qualifications:
Education and/or experience required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, ESOL or related field; Masters preferred.
- Experience working with adult ESOL learners in a community-based program
- Experience with online instruction.
- Experience with BEST Plus preferred.
- Previous experience working with students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Experience with community outreach a plus.
Skills, Licenses and/or competencies required:
- Highly motivated and self-starter.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
- Computer literacy (expertise with CMS Office (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel), Microsoft Office 365, Google Drive Suite, WhatsApp, Zoom, and Canva)
- Ability/willingness to work evenings and occasional Saturdays.
