Life at Castle Metals
Richard Erbe
Saw Operator
“My favorite part of working at Castle is the sense of accomplishment I feel when I watch our flatbed trucks pull out of the warehouse with metal that I personally cut or worked on. I've learned so much since joining Castle and love the opportunity to pass along my knowledge when training new employees on the saw and other equipment. The people here are easy to get along with and we have a lot of fun while being productive. Castle allows me to have a great work-life balance, and when I'm not working I like to spend time mentoring youth through the Royal Rangers program.”
Heather Murray
Operator
“I've worked in the metals business since I was 19 years old, and joined Castle as a Saw Operator in the Janesville facility. While the warehouse may seem intimidating at first, you'll get comfortable once you learn how to operate the various machines, trucks and equipment. I love helping out in all the different areas of the warehouse and enjoy staying busy every day. I've made so many great friends at Castle and hope to motivate others in my supervisory role. Being on the 3rd shift allows me the flexibility to spend time on my hobbies, such as gardening, during the day.”
Keefe Nkobi
Operations Assistant
“Joining Castle has helped me better understand the metals industry and what it takes to be part of a company that strives to be the best in a very competitive industry. Having started in the warehouse and then moving into an office position, I've gained a lot of knowledge on the entire fabrication process. My favorite part of the job is being a conduit between our sales team and the warehouse. Discovering new ways of troubleshooting problems each day is what keeps me motivated, and I love it when I can help land a new order or resolve a customer issue.”
Kim O’Mara
General Manager
“As a General Manager, every day brings different challenges and no two days are alike. You can be training the team one minute, then working with sales to develop an account, and then managing inventory. There is a lot of trouble shooting in this role and working with others to develop processes and procedures to define best practice. In addition, you have the opportunity to work with not only sales, but customers, credit, operations and finance working towards best practice and business growth.
I enjoy reading, golf, beach volleyball and pickup games of basketball in the driveway with my family. Castle’s flexible work schedule has allowed me to spend several weekends traveling out of state following our boys’ basketball teams play in several tournaments. For nearly 20 years we have also hosted the O’Mara Golf Open which has had participants from Castle in the various states we’ve traveled.”
Susan Queisser
Director of Accounting
“When I started with Castle as the only Corporate Accountant almost 20 years ago, I was excited to join a successful company with a rich history and an international presence. During my early years with Castle I became a CPA, and the accounting department grew, along with my responsibilities. Over the years we acquired several companies both domestic and international, and we've gone through two system conversions, which has taught me so much from a professional perspective. I love the variety in my work in that there is always something new happening, and no two days are alike. My busiest time of the year is winter, so I'm lucky to get some time off in the summer to golf.”
