Shop & Facility Foreman

Position at TerraTherm, Inc.

This position within TerraTherm coordinates and oversees the day-to-day operations of both the shop and the facility building and infrastructure. The foreman will coordinate the workload, based on a work order driven process, and instruct/assist various skilled and unskilled team members. The foreman will report to the Program ManagerGenerally, the foreman will work side by side with the Equipment & Documentation Specialist to support the Engineering Department and Field Services Department in the implementation of projects and shipment of equipment and materials, while creating work orders, as required, and coordinating shop improvement projects/activities and facility upkeep. 




  • Leadership and Workload Coordination  
  • Perform hands-on repair and maintenance of environmental equipment including pump and blower skids and related equipment; fabricate, assemble and test components and equipment. 
  • Support the delivery of inventoried, inspected, tested, and well-organized shipments of materials, equipment, and supplies to meet project needs, on-time in accordance with project schedules 
  • Ensure completion of necessary quality control and inventory documentation

  • Mentor shop personnel, providing leadership and promoting staff development in an environment that encourages safety, teamwork, initiative, and growth 
  • Communicate Lessons Learned and enhancements to internal procedures as needed and discovered, to the Equipment & Documentation Specialist 
  • Coordinate workload for shop personnel; act as a resource for the field services team during start-up, construction, operations, and demobilization for trouble-shooting, including communication between operations team to ensure timely and efficient progress and practices.   
  • Instruct and coach team members in safe operation and use of equipment and tools. 
  • Support work of subcontractors and less experienced staff. 
  • Focus on quality and timeliness. Ensure quality work through adherence to procedures,  quality standards and inspections. Work with Engineering team and Equipment & Documentation Specialist to develop new quality control procedures and inspection reports where needed 
  • Work with Equipment & Documentation Specialist to organize and prioritize needed equipment maintenance and repairs. Maximize equipment readiness and availability. 
  • Maintain an ongoing list of non-time-critical equipment or facility maintenance tasks for shop staff to complete when time is available  
  • Shop Health and Safety Supervisor 
  • Shop Health and Safety Supervisor: Understand the current Health & Safety Program documents; recommend additional policies and/or procedures as needed or discovered, train/coach staff. Perform shop inspections according to protocol.  
  • Enforce compliance with all Health and Safety Plans, ensure company policies and programs are followed without exception. Report to Program Manager regarding recommendations and noncompliance issues 


  • Operations & Logistics 
  • Become familiar with project work plans, project schedule, staffing and work scope, and discuss any concerns related to equipment, material or schedule with Program Manager or Project Manager. 
  • Ensure time sheets, packing slips, and receipts are submitted weekly. 
  • Assist team members with any problems and be proactive in solving potential problems or issues before they arise. 
  • Maintain tools and equipment; re-stock missing or damaged tools and equipment. Ensure tools, equipment, and supplies are secured at the end of each shift and the work area is secure before leaving each day. 
  • Plan and coordinate trucking schedules, organize pre-load layout and planning; Prepare or direct preparation of Bills of Lading and other shipping documentation. Distribute shipping documentation to project team and file.  
  • Manage inbound receiving process; maintain organized system for handling received parts and accurate receiving documentation.  


  • Facility & Infrastructure  
  • Maintain facility and infrastructure in good working order. 
  • Coordinate routine and non-routine maintenance, upkeep and repair of facility building, grounds, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems; Plan, supervise and direct facility improvements. 
  • Coordinate service work and systems with facility support subcontractors and suppliers (HVAC, M/E/P, landscaping/plowing, security, cleaning, propane, forklifts, and crane, etc.). 
  • Organize, manage, and maintain a neat and orderly system for shop/warehouse inventory, material, and equipment storage 




  • 5 years minimum experience working with mechanical equipment or in an equipment manufacturing environment     
  • Practical working knowledge of pumps, blowers, piping, and related equipment 
  • Basic knowledge of 3-phase electrical equipment 
  • Ability to read and interpret a Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) 
  • Attention to detail and follow through in QA/QC documentation and recordkeeping

  • Computer literate (specific to Microsoft Office Suite), proficient with MS Excel 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Self-motivator with ability to multi-task 
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and able to operate shop forklift (training provided) 
  • Must pass required pre-employment physical (including alcohol/drug testing) and annual medical surveillance physical examination for clearance to work on hazardous waste sites
