The General Manager is responsible for building and maintaining client relationships, profit and loss management, bidding and project management, and oversight to ensure successful and profitable project execution. This includes participation and oversight of supporting Manager Operations, Manager Field Services and Office Manager, project management oversight, purchasing, gross and net profit goals, equipment maintenance control, inventory control, invoicing, safety, timesheet review, compliance and employee hiring and morale.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION
- Builds and maintains effective relationships with new and existing clients to grow revenue base.
- Nurtures and develops new business opportunities with current as well las former clients.
- Oversee Manager Field Services on their daily scheduling and field operations including crew logistics, equipment and employee utilization, and job problems. Provide oversight to lower-tier managers to implement solutions while maintaining operating efficiencies. Performance measured on gross margin performance vs plan, proposed margin vs executed margin and net margin.
- Responsible for the management of the day-to-day projects ensuring successful completion within established schedules and budgets which will include:
- Planning and organization of projects for Houston and other regional offices
- Communicating job details to crew and clients through Manager, Field Services
- Conducting or delegate site walks
- Ensuring quality work performance, adherence to safety, and compliance to schedules and budgets
- Collecting and approving daily reports
- Updating project trackers with billable units/revenue daily
- Completing written change orders and revising costs for invoicing
- Role requires continual teaming with Manager, Field Services on their tasks, which include field preparedness, crew field training, maintenance completion, project kick-offs and field client interactions
- Monitor and review company’s project activities and ensure that they are brought to completion within scheduled period and budget.
- Create sales projections/forecasts and sets objectives for assigned business unit products. Manage Salesforce data to mine opportunities, understand and predict pipeline and create long-term budgets and financial goals.
- Provide effective management to Cascade’s business activities that have to do with its strategic and financial growth.
- Direct subordinate managers and supervisors in resource allocation, personnel decisions and business priorities.
- Review fuel bills, expense reports and credit card statements, validating appropriate use and personal charges.
- Responsible for field and admin recruitment and hiring initiatives; including, performing interviews.
- Oversee and monitor company conformance to federal, state and local regulations and safety regulations. R
- Leadership responsibilities include hire, train, develop, coach, mentor, motivate, discipline, terminate employees.
- Responsible for all operations office employee performance and salary reviews conducted in a proactive and timely manner, along with the implementation of time sensitive performance improvement plans, when appropriate.
- Manage daily and monthly job cost analysis (WIP) with developed project management tools
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering or Business Administration and an additional 4-15 years related experience with 10 years of experience in an environmental service related field
- 5 years P&L experience preferred
- Direct experience in Project Management, Accounting, Finance, Marketing, Sales and Contracts
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret financial reports, and legal documents
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, regulatory agencies, or business community
- Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups
- Ability to train, develop and motivate others.
- Thorough knowledge of Job Costing
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products
