The Estimator is responsible for supporting the region's revenue, profitability (EBITDA), and business growth objectives by developing accurate, competitive, and timely cost estimates and proposals. This position prepares estimates for environmental, geotechnical, mining, water resources, drilling, and remediation projects throughout the Southwestern United States while collaborating closely with Operations, Sales, and senior leadership to secure new work.
Essential Functions
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and proposals for environmental, geotechnical, mining, water resources, drilling, and remediation projects.
- Develop project pricing, technical approaches, production rates, equipment requirements, labor needs, subcontractor scopes, and profit margins.
- Participate in bid strategy meetings and work with senior leadership to review proposals valued at over $500,000.
- Collaborate with Sales, Key Accounts, Marketing, and Operations to achieve regional revenue, profitability, and business development objectives.
- Provide estimating support to Project Managers and Field Operations by communicating the assumptions, production rates, and methodologies used to develop project estimates.
- Maintain consistency in estimating procedures, pricing databases, proposal formats, and company estimating tools.
- Coordinate with Sales, Marketing, and Key Accounts on company initiatives, strategic pursuits, and proposal deliverables.
- Track and follow up on submitted proposals in coordination with Sales and Operations.
- Communicate project opportunities, bid status, and estimating activities with the Regional Senior Vice President and Operations leadership.
- Maintain accurate estimating records and documentation to support project execution and future estimating efforts.
- Assist with continuous improvement of estimating processes, cost databases, and best practices.
Qualifications
- Minimum of three (3) years of estimating experience or a related field.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, Business, or a related discipline preferred. High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience estimating drilling, environmental remediation, civil construction, geotechnical, mining, or water resource projects is preferred.
- Strong understanding of project costing, production rates, scheduling, and construction means and methods.
- Ability to read and interpret project plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with estimating software is preferred.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple bids and meet competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel as needed.
$125,000 - $140,000 Depending on experience
