About the Position:  The Shop Service Manager manages operations of the shop to maintain and repair diesel trucks, ranging in size from tractors/trailers, heavy duty trucks, and step-vans to pick-up trucks. The position manages other mechanics and reports to the Vice President of NIM-MI.
 
 
Position: Shop Service Manager     
 
Where: Dearborn, MI
 
Hours: Monday-Friday, Day Shift   
 
Pay: $90,000-$100,000 per year. (Negotiable based on experience)

Essential Job Functions:   
  • Oversee all services, repair, and maintenance for the NIM-MI fleet
  • Delegate and direct repair and maintenance tasks; monitor the progress of all current and pending projects
  • Develop a regular and consistent maintenance schedule for all vehicles and equipment
  • Supervise other mechanics’ work performance to ensure high quality
  • Manage mechanics’ schedules to ensure adequate shop coverage
  • Manage work orders, process and track parts, tools and other shop material
  • Accurately track and manage inventory of vehicles, equipment and parts
  • Communicate and maintain good relations with manufacturing reps and dealers
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with employees, drivers and operators
  • Keep a safe and clean shop at all times
  • Train new employees in company procedures, including safety and work processes
  • Collaborate with Beary Fleet Services on vehicle/equipment purchases, repairs and mechanic training
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of industry regulations, restrictions, and laws, ensuring the company's adherence to these regulations
  • Remain current on the industry's standards and new innovations, materials, tools, and processes.
Requirements:   
  • Previous experience managing a service shop facility
  • Previous experience as a mechanic, with working knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems
  • Leadership, communication, and customer service skills
  • Computer literacy and strong organizational skills
