Job Title: Regional Career Services Director
Department: Career Services
Reports To: Director of Graduate Services
Classification: FT Exempt

 

Summary: In relation to contributing to Carrington’s mission and goals, Regional Career Services Director works with autonomy, responsibility, and authority to provide leadership in the areas of Placement, Externship, and Career Services Seminar to meet or exceed placement goals.  This requires knowledge and understanding of the career services process, the ability to proactively identify problems and seek solutions, highly refined critical thinking skills and the ability to distinguish between facts and inferences.  The Regional Career Services Director directs activity by obtaining, analyzing and applying data utilizing various resources including our activity based management system. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

EMPLOYMENT

  • Maintains daily/weekly/modular employment goals, monitors activity to ensure goals are met consistently.
  • Meets employer development goals for job orders and interviews
  • Audits job orders and activities through the system to ensure urgency and quality
  • Reviews available graduates and provides follow-up plan and support for each graduate
  • Conducts audits of all placements and exclusions to confirm compliance
  • Attends business functions, trade shows and professional organizations’ meetings for the purposes of networking and employer development
  • Meets with faculty to discuss employer needs and available openings
  • Participates in Advisory Board meetings to represent Career Services
  • Performs documentation audits in internal documentation system; to ensure accuracy and provide feedback and support as needed

EXTERNSHIP

  • Utilizes reports to ensure all students have externship sites on scheduled start date
  • Confirms and tracks midterm review to increase extern to hire conversions
  • Ensures all required documentation is completed timely and acccuralty for the tracking of externship hours, extension, completion and student performance
  • Verifies all medical screening requirements for externship site clearance are complete as required
  • Assesses and analyzes student mastery of course and program learning outcomes  

CAREER SERVICES ENGAGEMENT

  • Ensures Career Services team(s) complete required workshops each term
  • Creates and maintains a detailed engagement plan through the life cycle of the program
  • Maintains employer recruitment event goals each term.

MANAGERIAL OPERATIONS

  • Administers New Career Services Advisor Training.
  • Conducts meetings to assist in closing out job orders, interviews, mock interviews and placement
  • Conducts Performance Evaluations, performs side by side coaching and documents Performance as appropriate
  • Maintains timely and accurate computer and manual records to ensure compliance.  Communicates regularly to discuss changes in Graduate Placement Status
  • Verifies all orientations for Externship and the Career Services Seminar are completed in a timely manner
  • Verifies appropriate license audits and ensures data entry is accurate and timely
  • Partners with campus leadership and provides support when there is a vacancy or an extended employee absence
  • Assumes additional caseload as need
  • Works well with other Managers and Stakeholders across Carrington to ensure information sharing and the best way to support our students and employers with the information available.
  • Handle special projects assigned
  • Ensures timely response to management requests and directives
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities: May supervise a Career Services Advisor. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints, and resolving problems with discretion and independent judgment.

Education and/or Experience – BA/BS degree. Five (5) or more years experience in career services, sales, professional recruiting or other similar roles.  Proven ability to set priorities and deadlines to ensure projects are completed and goals are achieved.  Self–motivated and willing to take ownership of, and quickly resolve complex issues.  Communicates with impact, both verbally and written, in an accurate, understandable and succinct manner while adapting communication styles to their audience. Proactively solves problems through asking questions, listening to responses, verifying information, considering alternate conclusions and staying solution-focused

Language Skills – Ability to read, analyze and interpret analytical reports on inquiries, enrollments and drops; ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from employees and students; ability to effectively present information to students and admissions team.

Mathematical Skills – Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; ability to compute rate, ration and percent.

Reasoning Ability – Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form; ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills – To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook; and master proprietary software used to maintain student records.
