The Opportunity:
Ziff Davis Shopping is looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Full-Stack Laravel/PHP) to join our Engineering team. Our Engineering team works on some of the most trafficked commerce sites on the internet - a list that includes Retailmenot.com, VoucherCodes.co.uk, Offers.com, BlackFriday.com, and more. Candidates can expect to work on both new and existing applications, with a primary focus on the websites themselves and the content management systems that back them.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify, scope, and architect solutions for complex features and business requirements.
- Collaborate with product and design teams to integrate user-focused solutions that align with business goals.
- Lead larger initiatives within the engineering team, ensuring technical excellence and delivery.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues, optimizing application performance, scalability, and security.
- Track and improve application performance metrics such as response time, error rate, and uptime
- Deliver high-quality, maintainable code consistently, following best practices and coding standards.
- Conduct regular code reviews to maintain quality, consistency, and adherence to best practices
- Identify and communicate cross-team dependencies, proactively addressing risks and ensuring smooth collaboration.
- Mentor and guide junior developers, fostering growth and adherence to engineering best practices.
- Contribute to technical strategy and architectural decisions, ensuring long-term maintainability and scalability of systems.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying bottlenecks in processes and recommending solutions
Job Qualifications:
- 6+ years of industry development experience (PHP, Javascript).
- Experience working with MVC frameworks Laravel, Rails (or similar)
- Experience working with relational databases
- Demonstrate sound technical judgment that considers technology alternatives, impact on affected systems, and tradeoffs
- Able to work in a team environment as well as independently
- Effectively communicate with stakeholders and team members
- Strong desire to learn new technologies and stay up to date with frameworks and libraries
Bonus Skills:
- Experience working with MySQL
- Experience working with Laravel and Laravel Nova
- Experience using JavaScript frameworks such as Vue JS or Alpine JS
- Experience using Tailwind CSS and with responsive web design
- Experience working with Git, Docker, testing frameworks

Compensation Range
Ziff Davis provides a range for the base pay. Factors that may be used to determine your actual pay may include your specific job related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographic location. The salary compensation for this role is $135,000 to $150,000. Individual pay within the compensation range for this business unit specific role is determined based on a variety of factors including experience, scope of the role, capabilities to perform the role, education and training, as well as business and company performance.
