About the role:
WebMD Health Services is looking for a Sr. Data Engineer to join our Data Engineering team. You will help WHS expand its enterprise data platform to support the WHS product, reporting, and business intelligence. You will work with other engineers across the technology organization to design and build product solutions. Your skills and experience will help shape the work we do as a data team supporting a product that is HIPAA and GDPR compliant. This role will report to the Data Engineering Lead responsible for our data platform.
Responsibilities:
  • Help guide the future of the WebMD Health Services data platform, including architecture design and implementationMonitor and improve data services, including solving reliability and data quality problems across the data platform
  • Help establish and implement best practices around data acquisition, storage, monitoring, logging, and access across the data platform
  • Data modeling design for enterprise data warehousing and reporting
Requirements:
  • Self-starter mindset with the ability to lead projects, document and improve processes, and influence others
  • 3+ years of professional experience with expertise in SQL and strong programming skills in Python
  • 3+ years of experience with big data architecture and data pipelines, familiarity with Airflow is preferred
  • 1+ year of production support experience in a cloud environment (AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, etc.), familiarity with Azure is preferred
  • 1+ year of experience performance tuning spark or managed spark (e.g., Databricks) environments for analytics and reporting workloads
  • 1+ year of experience performance tuning SQL Server environments for analytics and reporting workloads
  • Experience with DevOps environments and practices, including CI/CD, infrastructure as code, etc.
  • Understanding of containerized applications and their implementations, familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes is preferred
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills – able to quickly read code and debug live servers to triage underlying issues
