Policy and Government Relations Fellow

Washington, DC or remote

The Policy and Government Relations (PGR) Fellow will assist with a variety of projects and initiatives involving federal and international policy. This position will gain exposure to many of the issues on which the PGR team is working and assist with policy research, analysis, and writing.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research, analysis, and writing on federal and international public policy issues related to oceans, climate change, and wildlife conservation.
  • Assist with research and analysis on international countries’ political landscape and capabilities and collaborate to develop strategies for engagement.
  • Monitor and provide updates on policy-related developments involving science, technology, machine learning, and AI
  • Provide support for the Policy and Government Relations (PGR) team to optimize thought leadership opportunities (speaking engagements, thought pieces, etc.)
  • Help PGR and other Vulcan representatives prepare for the CBD CoP, Our Oceans, UN Oceans Conference and other conferences
  • Generate new policy ideas and identify potential partnership opportunities focused on PGAFF Board objectives
  • Attend and report back on meetings and events

 

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Enrolled in a graduate-level program
  • Have experience working on or familiarity with the relevant policy issues
  • Possess a solid understanding of legislative and regulatory processes
  • Ability to research and analyze policy issues and write clearly about those issues at pace
  • Possess strong verbal and interpersonal communications skills
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary team members and stakeholders
