Description

The Technical Application Architect Developer provides technical expertise encompassing all clinical applications and familiarity with the institution’s current operating systems. Provides global perspective on technical issues pertaining to clinical systems and “hands-on” technical support and/or guidance for each of the Cerner applications to minimize the need to defer to third parties for problem resolution and application information and thereby minimize delays.

    • Functions in lead role in database design, build, and implementation of all new clinical applications.

    • Proficient in all aspects of the clinical systems including operating systems and application architecture, serving as technical information source.

    • Manages critical technical/application systems support functions: Prioritizes implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting tasks.

    • Utilizes available tools and technical expertise/experience to automate and expedite the accurate, complete, and most efficient solutions to meet the institution’s objectives (eg, problem resolution, implementation timelines, etc).

    • Write queries against clinical system databases, providing timely, accurate reporting to the physicians and other clinical staff on request.

    • Design and create custom databases for long term retention of relevant data extracted from clinical activity files.

    • Suggest and implement application workarounds as necessary to maintain normal operations and avoid impedance of quality patient care.

    • Design and implement application-testing plans, documenting the plans and the outcome of the testing.

    • Resolve issues when possible, logging problems and outcome tot he appropriate resource as necessary.

    • Assist departmental resources in training their personnel and preparing user reference materials as necessary.

    • Informs appropriate individuals of all technical problems or concerns warranting their attention and suggests several possible remedies of courses of action.

    • Implements corrective action as required.

    • Provides ongoing support of Cerner applications including, troubleshooting, training, and PIM installation and testing.

    • Participates in hospital performance improvement activities (kaizens, lean initiatives) when appropriate.

    • Manages each stage of a project to ensure that commitments are met in a manner that is timely and within budget. Clearly defines roles and responsibilities, determines necessary resources, and monitors project performance through appropriate systems and procedures.

    • Participates in the oversight, design and development of clinical interfaces.

    Additional Information
    With 3 years of experience working with Cerner or other EMR database is preferred.
