Chief Operating Officer (Planned Transition to President)

Executive Nazareth, Pennsylvania

Description

Chief Operating Officer

This is not a typical COO role. It’s an opportunity to step into a ~$25M business and lead its next stage of growth.

As Chief Operating Officer at Kitchen Magic, located in Nazareth, PA, you’ll partner directly with the President and take a clear path toward becoming the next leader of the company.

Kitchen Magic is a 45-year, family-owned kitchen and bath business built on craftsmanship, customer trust, and long-tenured teams. As the company looks to scale over the next several years, we’re looking for someone who can run the business day to day with real discipline, then grow into full company leadership over time.

This is a hands-on, in-person leadership role. Success here depends on execution: steady, week-to-week follow-through across sales, marketing, and operations, not strategy alone.

Sound like you? If you’ve led a team through real growth before and you’re ready for the next business you build to be one you’re also running, we want to talk.

What you’ll do

You’ll help strengthen, grow, and lead a business that has been carefully built over four decades, while preserving the culture and values that make it special.

As Chief Operating Officer, you’ll partner closely with the President and leadership team to strengthen the organization, accelerate growth, and ultimately prepare to assume broader company leadership over time. Success in this role requires balancing strategy and execution, leading through people, and building on a culture that has been carefully developed over more than four decades.  Day-to-day you’ll:

  • Lead the business alongside the President, assuming increasing responsibility as you build trust, learn the organization, and prepare for a future transition into the President role.
  • Develop and align a high-performing leadership team of approximately 7 functional leaders and help develop the next generation of management talent.
  • Create clarity, accountability, and operational rhythm through goal setting, forecasting, performance management, and leadership development.
  • Drive profitable growth by aligning marketing, sales, customer experience, and operational execution around shared business objectives.
  • Partner closely with the Sales and Marketing leaders to improve lead generation, conversion rates, customer acquisition efficiency, and overall revenue performance.
  • Strengthen the leadership bench by coaching leaders, elevating talent, and creating an environment where people can grow and succeed.
  • Translate strategy into execution, ensuring priorities become measurable actions that drive results across the organization.
  • Improve the systems, processes, and structure needed to support growth, while preserving the culture and values that have made Kitchen Magic successful.
  • Maintain close visibility into the customer experience, ensuring that every stage of the journey, from lead generation through installation, reinforces the company’s reputation and brand promise.
  • Partner with ownership on long-term planning, helping identify opportunities to expand market presence, improve profitability, and increase organizational value.
  • Serve as a visible and trusted leader, building relationships throughout the organization and helping align the team around a shared vision for the future.

What we’re looking for

This role is built for an operator: someone who executes with discipline and brings a team along, rather than someone looking to make a quick strategic bet. We're looking for a leader who is excited by the opportunity to build value, develop people, and guide the next chapter of the company while preserving the culture and values that have made it successful.  Ideally, you bring:

  • Demonstrated leadership of a full business or significant business unit, including responsibility for revenue growth, profitability, leadership development, and cross-functional decision-making.
  • Direct experience growing a consumer-facing, direct-to-consumer business where lead generation, customer acquisition, sales conversion, and customer experience are critical drivers of growth.
  • Having been part of meaningful revenue growth at a business of a similar size, roughly $10–$25M, whether or not you led that growth personally
  • A background in consumer-facing environments such as home improvement, design-build, or similar industries; home improvement experience specifically is a strong plus
  • Understanding of how sales, marketing, lead generation, and operations work together to drive profitable growth.
  • Comfort operating in a hands-on, in-person leadership role, staying close to teams, customers, and day-to-day execution
  • A leadership style grounded in trust, clarity, and accountability, especially with established, long-tenured teams who’ve been here for decades
  • A track record of leading and developing a cross-functional leadership team, not just hiring individual contributors but building out a management bench
  • MBA or equivalent graduate-level business education strongly preferred
  • Genuine interest in building something over the next 7–10 years, with the understanding that the payoff comes through growth incentives and eventual leadership, not equity

What we offer you

We believe strong businesses are built by people who feel trusted, supported, and challenged. We’re proud to offer:

  • Competitive compensation: $175K–$200K base depending on experience, with variable compensation tied to performance
  • A clear, intentional path to President and long-term leadership
  • Long-term incentive opportunity tied to company performance and value creation, designed to reward sustained contribution and leadership over time.
  • Company-wide profit-sharing tied to business performance
  • The opportunity to lead a respected brand with real autonomy
  • Medical, Dental, Vision, and Telehealth benefits
  • 401k and profit-sharing programs
  • A deeply loyal team and a culture known for transparency, trust, and being named a Top Lehigh Valley Workplace for the past 11 years

About us

Founded in 1979, Kitchen Magic pioneered cabinet refacing as an affordable way for homeowners to transform their kitchens. What began in a basement office grew into a respected regional brand operating from a 62,000-square-foot facility in Nazareth, PA, through grit, referrals, and doing right by people. Today, we’re known for craftsmanship, transparency, and a people-first culture where employees are trusted with the full picture, including our financials. We believe accountability and humanity aren’t opposites, and we’re looking for a leader who believes that too.
