This role is critical to ensuring the reliability, robustness, and long-term performance of products deployed across demanding customer applications. The successful candidate will lead the development of innovative reliability methodologies, drive failure analysis investigations, and collaborate across R&D, product engineering, process engineering, and operations teams to support new technology development and product qualification.
Job Description
The Sr. Staff Reliability Engineer will serve as the lead engineer to plan, coordinate, and execute accelerated life testing, environmental testing, characterization, and qualification activities for Power Integrations' semiconductor products. This individual will play a key role in advancing reliability performance for analog, mixed-signal, and high-voltage GaN HEMT technologies through rigorous testing, failure analysis, and data-driven reliability assessment.
The position requires deep technical expertise in semiconductor reliability engineering, device physics, and accelerated stress testing. The successful candidate will develop lifetime prediction models, investigate reliability failures, troubleshoot test hardware, and lead cross-functional initiatives focused on improving product, package, and technology reliability. This role offers the opportunity to influence next-generation semiconductor technologies while driving best-in-class reliability methodologies across the organization.
Specific Responsibilities
  • Lead accelerated life testing, environmental testing, and qualification activities for analog, mixed-signal, and GaN semiconductor products.
  • Develop and execute highly accelerated stress tests to characterize high-voltage GaN HEMT device reliability.
  • Analyse accelerated test results and apply acceleration models to predict field reliability and product lifetime.
  • Develop lifetime and reliability prediction models for application-specific operating profiles.
  • Perform IC-level failure analysis, fault isolation, and root cause investigations of silicon and GaN-based devices.
  • Design, evaluate, and improve reliability test hardware for dynamic life testing and qualification programmes.
  • Troubleshoot reliability test systems and resolve equipment or methodology issues affecting qualification schedules.
  • Lead cross-functional engineering teams in developing accelerated reliability methodologies for GaN technology improvement.
  • Coordinate qualification projects, manage technical tasks, and provide direction to supporting engineering staff.
  • Present technical findings, reliability assessments, and strategic recommendations to engineering leadership.
Skills Required
  • Expertise in semiconductor reliability engineering, device physics, and electronic circuit analysis.
  • In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with high-voltage GaN HEMT devices and process technologies.
  • Strong understanding of semiconductor fabrication, assembly, packaging, and test operations.
  • Expertise in accelerated life testing, environmental testing, and reliability qualification methodologies.
  • Strong failure analysis, fault isolation, and root cause investigation capabilities.
  • Experience designing and evaluating reliability test hardware for dynamic life testing.
  • Advanced statistical analysis skills using tools such as TIBCO Spotfire, ReliaSoft, MATLAB, JMP, or equivalent.
  • Strong project leadership, communication, and technical presentation skills.
  • Ability to lead complex engineering initiatives within a fast-paced R&D environment.
Background Desired
  • B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or an equivalent technical discipline. Advanced degrees (M.S. or Ph.D.) will receive special consideration.
  • Minimum 10 years of reliability engineering experience within the semiconductor industry.
  • Experience supporting analog and/or mixed-signal semiconductor products.
  • Demonstrated expertise in GaN device reliability characterization and qualification.
  • Proven track record of delivering product, package, process, and technology reliability improvements.
  • Experience with qualification project planning, technical task management, and team coordination.
  • Management or people leadership experience is preferred.
