Position Summary:

The Business Development Manager, Alumni will build support for National University by cultivating relationships, forging partnerships, and increasing awareness about National University.  Alumni and the companies for which alumni work is the focus population of the Busienss Development Manger.  Working in conjunction with the Alumni office and Workforce Education Solutions (WES) teams, they will steward a strong relationship as the key liason between these teams.  Coordinating closely with the WES teams, they will develop an understanding of the WES team strategies and how alumni can assist in service to the strategies.  Developing processes and reporting to provide increased value to WES team partnerships.  The goal of these relationships is to attain partnerships for National University’s Workforce Education Solutions division, which will result in enrollment growth for the university by creating pathways for employees to become aware of program offerings and educational benefits.

 

Additionally, the Business Development Manager designs, develops, delivers, and administers efforts related to establishing and maintaining these strategic partnerships to support the mission and initiatives. Identifies new prospects through research and evaluates, analyzes, and formulates strategies for growth in strategic partnerships with targeting Alumni as the focus.  They will additionally work in conjunction with NU marketing teams to establish and drive referral campaigns for Alumni to increase awareness of NU programs and educational benefits at WES partner organizations. The successful candidate will be dedicated to providing high quality service to all constituencies of National University, other System affiliates, clients, and students.  They will exhibit the highest professional standards and ethical principles.

 

Essential Functions:

Program/Team Success:

  • Strengthens relationships and processes designed to streamline the ways for which WES requests and receives data from the Alumni office.
  • Through internal relationship management, develops understanding of WES needs in relation to alumni reporting and interactions while developing innovative solutions for demonstrated and anticipated needs.
  • Responsible for corporate outreach and business development by working in coordination with the WES teams in identifying and implementing partnership opportunities resulting in increased enrollments and revenue from partner organizations.
  • Collaborate with other Workforce Education Solutions (WES) teams and leadership to align alumni approaches and development with identified market force needs.

 

Sales/Business Development:

  • Contacts prospects (email, telephone, face-to-face, direct mail, and networking events) to schedule meetings and explain/answer questions and conduct presentations.
  • Design and manage recruitment activities such as alumni forums, graduate school fairs, trade shows, conferences, open house/information sessions, prospective student meetings
  • Provide leadership in ensuring student information is updated and managed into systems accurately and in a timely manner
  • Performs prospect research with continual prioritization of targeted organization and activities
  • Applies traditional and innovative sales techniques to gain business
  • Develops and executes partnership agreements and MOU’s that drive student interest and admissions
  • Project manages activities with organizations including newsletter submittals, presentation creation, web site updates and links, flyers, etc. to ensure materials/advertising aligns to agreements
  • Project manages and follows through on enrollment activity
  • Meets and exceeds established quarterly business development/sales goals

 

Technology:

  • Intermediate to advanced use of computers and Microsoft Office Suite Applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Proficiency with Salesforce CRM.
  • Learn new software programs as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required. Masters preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in a combination of business development, operations, and developing relationships with corporate leaders and academic professionals with at least seven years of experience in higher education.
  • Market awareness of Executive Education and MBA market preferred.

Travel:

Travels up to 50% for employer/partnership cultivation and participation in partnership and system-wide events as a representative of the National University System.
