Position Summary:

As the Sr. Marketing Analyst you’ll act as the driving force for delivering knowledge of marketing activity performance.  Acting as the lead analyst, you’ll be the primary data partner for the marketing team, delivering actional insights, fostering understanding of what’s working, and enabling analytics self-service for the entire marketing team.  This position requires a strong quantitative background to develop sophisticated, dynamic reports and dashboards that will serve as the backbone for marketing enabling data-driven decision across the team.  Additionally, this role comprises advanced analytics functions such as developing nuanced forecasts with multiple data inputs; and developing propensity models, marketing mix models and other models to improve marketing efficiencies.  The ideal candidate is a data-driven marketing analyst with strong technical skills, marketing knowledge, and Higher Education experience.  

Essential Functions:

 

  • Consultative marketing skills: work with marketing team to translate marketing data needs into reports and self-service marketing tools.
  • Quantitative analysis: Strong capabilities with descriptive analytics utilize data warehouses and data sources to create reports and dashboards that enabling marketing team to understand performance across multiple grains of data.
  • Create data insights: create graphs, reports, and dashboards to increase understanding of performance across marketing and cross-functional teams.
  • Ensure reporting accuracy and availability: Responsible for the data integrity of reports and dashboards ensuring that reported data is accurate. Corroborates data integrity of website and digital media channel data.
  • Develop expertise in data sources: work with internal marketing with cross-functional data partners to ensure that data required is available to use in creating reports and dashboards.
  • Develop expertise in university business processes: cultivate a deep understanding of marketing and enrollment processes, statuses, and prospective student cycle and the supporting data across these to support report and insight creation.

 

  • Create nuanced forecasts: create forecasts of lead and applicant volume based on projected media spend by channel and other known factors to, working closely with marketing leaders to improve forecast accuracy both within month and across fiscal year.
  • Advanced analytics and modeling: utilizes data science knowledge, statistical models and tools to create marketing models that enhance understanding of significant marketing questions such as prospect propensity to enroll, marketing mix allocations, and marketing channel effectiveness.

 

Requirements:

Education & Experience:

  • Masters degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Math or comparable field.
  • 3+ years experience in marketing analytics or data science role.
  • 2+ years of Higher Education experience.

 

Qualifications:

  • Strong technical skills including expertise with analytics tools and systems including Excel, R, SQL, SAS, and business intelligence and visualization platforms such as Tableau, Cognos, Birst, DOMO, Microsoft Power BI.
  • Hands-on experience using analytics code to extract data, create dashboards and reports.
  • Strong analytics knowledge base: Expertise using data warehousing tools and data science environments and integrating data from multiple sources.
  • Deep understanding of marketing analytics, marketing frameworks and concepts, and analytic needs of marketing team across multiple responsibility levels.
  • Proven capabilities utilizing marketing data to create insight. Strong understanding of marketing data sources including paid search, SEO, Google/Adobe Analytics.
  • Advanced analytics experience creating forecasts and data models.
