The Business Development Manager, Central (Corporate Programs) will build support for National University by cultivating relationships, forging partnerships, with an emphasis on increasing awareness in the Center for Creative Leadership Masters of Business Administration. They will steward strong relationships with key external constituent groups to include organizations and industry associations known and unknown to National University. The goal of these relationships is to attain partnerships for National University’s Workforce Education Solutions department resulting in individual and group enrollment into programs of benefit for employees. Creating pathways for employees to become aware of the CCL MBA and to matriculate into a student of the program. Strong preference for someone located in the Chicago, Illinois area and there will be frequent travel to other parts of Illinois, as well as Indiana and Ohio.

Additionally, the Business Development Manager designs, develops, delivers, and administers efforts related to establishing and maintaining these strategic partnerships to support the mission and initiatives. Identifies new prospects through research and evaluates, analyzes, and formulates strategies for growth in strategic partnerships. The successful candidate will be dedicated to providing high quality service to all constituencies of National University, other System affiliates, clients, and students. They will exhibit the highest professional standards and ethical principles.

Essential Functions:
Program/Team Success:

  • Responsible for corporate outreach and business development in the Chicago area and surrounding territory, by working in coordination with the WES teams in identifying and implementing partnership opportunities resulting in increased enrollments and revenue from partner organizations.
  • Collaborate with other Workforce Education Solutions (WES) vertical teams and leadership to align program approaches and development with identified market force needs.
Sales/Business Development:
  • Contacts prospects (email, telephone, face-to-face, direct mail, and networking events) to schedule meetings and explain/answer questions and conduct presentations.
  • Design and manage recruitment activities such as MBA forums, graduate school fairs, trade shows, conferences, open house/information sessions, prospective student meetings both in-person and virtual.
  • Conduct research and analysis in enrollment and marketing, meeting enrollment goals, utilizing the inquiry database to track prospective students, ensuring timely responses to initial admissions inquiries.
  • Provide leadership in ensuring student information is updated and managed into systems accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Performs prospect research with continual prioritization of targeted organization and activities
  • Applies traditional and innovative sales techniques to gain business
  • Develops and executes partnership agreements and MOU’s that drive student interest and admissions.
  • Project manages activities with organizations including newsletter submittals, presentation creation, web site updates and links, flyers, etc. to ensure materials/advertising aligns to agreements
  • Project manages and follows through on enrollment activity
  • Meets and exceeds established quarterly business development/sales goals
  • Intermediate to advanced use of computers and Microsoft Office Suite Applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Proficiency with Salesforce CRM.
  • Learn new software programs as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required. Masters preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in a combination of business development, operations, and developing relationships with corporate leaders and academic professionals with at least seven years of experience in higher education.
  • Market awareness of Executive Education and MBA market preferred.

Travels up to 50% for employer/partnership cultivation and participation in partnership and system-wide events as a representative of the National University System.
